A&EC photographs

Does anyone have or know where to obtain color photographs of the Atlantic and East Carolina before the Southern takeover in 1957? How about B&W photographs? I am considering modeling the 2 F2s in the Minneapolis & St. Louis style paint scheme, which they wore until the merger. I also need photos showing trains in daily operation.

Larry - Here are some A&EC photo sources you can try: Bob's Photos, 37 Spring St., Ansonia, Conn. 06401 (tel. 1-203-734-666) Bob has told me that he will send photos on approval. He will also probably have some tables at the Great Scale Model Train Show at Maryland State Fairgrounds, Timonium, Md., north of Baltimore, Oct.7&8, 2000. He has "tons" of railroad photos, A&EC I'm not sure of. It might be best to call him. Another source is M. D. McCarter whose web site is http://www.cybertrails.com/~railphotos/ Although I think his collection is mostly b&w. The Mohawk & Hudson Chapter, NRHS, P.O.Box 2131, Albany, NY 12220-0131, owns the Alco builders photo collection and sells prints. They can be e-mailed at mohud@juno.com. I bought an 8x10in color print of an A&EC Also RS-1 from them in years past. Bill Folsom in Florida, too. A great slide collection of which he'll sell dupes. I don't have his current address, sorry. Beside photos, here's something that may interest you: In Nov.1995, Des Plaines Hobbies, in suburban Chicago, advertised an A&EC steel boxcar H0-scale kit, pre-lettered, a special run for Des Plaine Hobbies. May have been an InterMountain kit. Car No.1041. You may want to contact them and see if there are any more left. They advertise in RR Mod. Craftsman magazine and elsewhere. Hope this of help.
