Many companys had serious interruptions. My moms payroll was down for almost a week after Y2K an it had a bad affect on the business. If you compound that b y hundreds or thousands of companys every time a bug happens over the next 2 years you have a cumulatave affect.

While I will admit that it does not take much to get Ceeper's goat (he has only the one; used to have a whole heard of the critters).

The are indeed a several companies "compounding" their Y2K mistakes in their financial quarterly reports (might be one reason why some are either reporting surprising low incomes for this quarter; or else saying out right that the next 1-3 quarters are going to be bad.)

And gov.mil. did have the anti missle, missle trouble so bad. That they, on the Q.T. exchanged all of the missle batteries out in the feild before they would admit that there was a problem. Security you know..

But continue with your observations; no vigulance is wasted. And besides; Y2K is a " trigger" for all the rest that occurs this year. Who knows, may be old ceepr will be at home when TEOTWAWKI hit's! I just bet he'll not rekonize it coing down the street at him. Most realtors can only rekonize a "sell" two out of three times. LOL...You must have your (my) professions mixed up (as per usual). Mine; before Asbestosis took me out of the game. WAS the construction of power plants; both in the US and the rest of the world. And the dificulties I refer to are the ones that came across my desk..Looking for answears!

Countries like Nigeria, Kuwait. Both oil producers and exporters. Both having to import fuels because their refineries have went dowm.

The missle (anti) batteries problems where even on the media news. Get a life? Young man! You should get your collective head out of the sand. This whole thing took years to build up to this "coin" word called Y2K. It will take several more months to play out the game. I never stated that there would be an "heart attack" occurance! But I have; and do still state. That the embedd systems have a way to go yet.

As for the natural gas refineries and the pipe lines...Man you are one dense Dude! look at all the failures and oil, gasoline spills (and they are still occuring). Ask yourself why is it that TPTB in the oil feilds are trying to put a 50 year old pipe line back into service here in Texas! Could it be because all it's controls are analogue? Why is everyone being told to expect natural gas to be in short supply this winter?

Shakey, Please explain; 1.---The dynamics of how embedded chips with no date function would cause problems. 2.---Why would anybody design a "system" that had no reason to put in a date function,put in a date function? 3.---Several posts back you tried to explain how you could take a soldering pencil and a capacitor and wire it into a circuit and make that circuit into a timing ckt. Without further data from you,you are simply making an RC ckt.I'm sure you're familiar with the formula for it, T = R x C. This is hardly outside the domain of standard electrical knowledge and or knowhow. I'll leave it up to you to explain how this formula works in an electrical circuit. Awaitng your answer.

Please to me how a rollover problem (e.g., one that should have happened during the time frame of 12/31/1999 into 1/1/2000) will not show up until after today, August 2, 2000. And please don't refer us to EZ Board; that is NOT a verifiable source of information. If you know of a specific company that has been having problems, please cite the company name and where you found the information.

Explain to me how the facts are staring you in the face (e.g., nothing earth-shattering has happened and it's now August 2), yet you refuse to see them.
