Boils Remedy?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

I am 47 years old. When I was a kid growing up, I would break out with several boils in different areas of my body. My parents would go to the store and buy me a box of "sulfur and cream of tartar" pills. They were yellow and white wafers. I was told that these cleansed all teh impurities from my blood. Within several days teh boils would be gone and stay away for several years, then I'd do it all over again. Today, my kids are braking out with boils. One heals up and another pops up! I have exhausted myself looking for these same type of pills and can't find then, even in a drug store. Does anyone know what I'm talking about and if a supplier isn't known, what is the proper amounds so I can make it at home. It pains me to see my children go through this nasty junk! we've tried to watch our diets and various things that might cause it, and no luck so far! Please e-mail me if you have something to share! Thanks!

Dallas, I've never heard of your pills, keep looking in old-fashioned drug stores. Rexalls in small towns are often good places to try. I've got an old book that gives the ingredients for a lot of patent medicines, but I'd need the name of them to check for it. Gerbil

Dallas, I have also suffered boils from time to time. I found that the occurance deminished after I began taking the herbal echnacia during flu season to raise my tolerance against infection (you can take echnacia for up to 2 weeks at a time with a 5 day break in between. Boils are caused by staph infection and echnacia strengthens the immune system.. As with any medication, you should ask your doctor before using any herbal, many react adversly with certain prescription medications.
