Laundry soap recipe : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

I am looking for recipes for making flake or powdered laundry soap. I would appreciate any help. Thanks

Find a recipe for just about any kind of saop (I believe several have been posted here--look in the archives). Age it the appropriate length of time, then use a veggie grater, and turn it into flakes. It works much better if your water is soft; soap forms curds that scum up you clothes. We had a water softener (My Mom is a CLEAN fanatic, and it was a MUST for her), and grew up using homemade soap to wash our clothes. I can still smell them...just a clean smell, not perfum-y.

I was told that after you grate it you can dry it a little longer to make a good dry flaked soap.

You can also use borax and/or bleach in your soapmaking process if needed in making it for laundry purposes.

Look in the archive under Luandry Soap:

I've been using the recipe given and it works out great for me.

Does anyone remember what heading the recipe is under?

Ignore the above question. Sometimes I miss the obvious. :P
