Jet Makes Safe Emergency Landing A Northwest Airlines jet made an emergency landing yesterday at the former Pease Air Force Base in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Officials say the pilot smelled smoke shortly after taking off from Logan Airport. The flight was diverted and landed without incident. Passengers on board the plane were picked up by another Northwest plane and sent on their way.
