Text of report by Ukrainian news agency UNIAN Kiev, 28th July: UNIAN has learnt from the information centre of the department for nuclear regulation of the Ukrainian Ministry of the Environment and Natural Resources that repair work at the No 2 generating set at the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power station has begun to fall behind schedule because of a shortage of fresh nuclear fuel. The generating set was halted in the middle of June for planned repairs and reloading of the reactor with fuel.

In accordance with the repair schedule, the generating set should be back in operation by 1st September. Repair work is now one day behind schedule. It is planned to halt the operation of the No 5 generating set at the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power station for lengthy planned repairs and reloading of fuel tomorrow morning. The country's energy distribution centres have agreed to this. UNIAN also learnt from the Ministry of the Environment and Natural Resources of Ukraine that there is no nuclear fuel at the station for this generating set either.
