Thus is summarized out of today's paper:

Needed a three pound and one pound coffee can, both with plastic lids.

In the smaller can put in a 3.9-ounce box of pudding mix, 2 cups cold milk and l cup cold heavy cream or half-and-half. Stir and put on the plastic lid.

In the larger can put a layer of icecubes in the bottom, center the smaller can, then add ice to the sides and top. Put on lid. Roll the can back and forth for ten minutes. Remove lid from smaller can and stir. At this point you can add any extras you want, such as M&Ms, fresh fruit, nuts, etc. Put the contains back together, adding more ice as needed. Roll for another 15 minutes until the mixture is thick, then scrape into a container and freeze for 30 minutes or until firm. Serve immediately.

Article also notes you can make frozen yogurt with four 8-ounce containers of low-fat yogurt. It only takes about 15 minutes to freeze.

Major question: would that be 'instant' or 'cooked' pudding?

Hmmmm. Now that I think of it, it would probably HAVE to be instant pudding. Never mind!!

What a wonderful idea Ken! Thanks so much!

Try putting 1/2 cup of frozen berries in the blender, adding 1/4 cup cream, a teaspoon of honey, and a dash of vanilla flavoring -- blend. You may have to push the mixture down a couple of times. This makes delicious soft ice cream -- one serving -- ery quickly. If you are making several batches, cleaning the blender isn't such a hassle.

My kids will love trying it - thanks for sharing! Here's one we like: 1 qt milk (add extra cream if desired) 1 cup sugar or 3/4 cup honey 2 eggs 2 tsp vanilla extract Mix all together in blender;pour into ice cube trays and freeze. When frozen remove from trays and store in freezer bags. When you want ice cream take out as many cubes as desired and place in blender. Add just enough milk to blend well and blend till smooth and thick like homemade ice cream. A good way to use extra milk and eggs in the summer!
