Jet makes emergency landing in MichiganFLINT, Mich. A Northwest Airlines plane made an emergency landing Friday morning because of a possible fire in the cabin. There was smoke in the rear of the cabin, but it turned out there was no fire, an airline spokesman said. Mechanics are looking for the cause. Flight 364, a DC-9 carrying 78 passengers and five crew members, left Bishop International Airport at 6:50 a.m. en route to Detroit but returned shortly afterward. Passengers were evacuated on emergency slides. One person complained of a sprained knee or ankle. The Federal Aviation Administration was investigating.
