Regarding "doomers" and "pollies", it seems to me that there is a lot less difference among the moderates (both camps, e.g. Brian, Anita, Patricia, etc.) than between the extremes of either camp.

I wasn't trying to be funny. Cpr, IMHO does have some kind of mental problem having to do with his ego. It's like Y2k was the first time in his life he was noticed, and he just can't let that go. Little Man complex doesn't have to develop from being small in stature, not just from how tall you are or how small your dick is, rather it comes from low self confidence.

Charlie was born with a silver spoon in his mouth, was given everything he has , was given a good education, and look where he is today. Just a loud mouthed, offensive real estate salesman from Dallas who is looking to get his groupies back.

If he wasn't so pathetic, I'd feel sorry for him.

Have you ever read The True Believer by Eric Hoffer? There's essentially no difference between zealots on either side of ANY coin. A "smoking" advocate, for instance, may lobby for smoker's rights, defend his right to smoke in public places, and criticize anyone who thinks he's wrong. Once that smoker decides to quit smoking, however, he becomes as zealous at the opposite extreme as he was on the other.

As a Y2k "Polly" it came as a surprise to me to realize that some of the pollies and doomers were bigoted zealots in general. Some of the "signs" should have been obvious to me, but it wasn't until the CDC came and ended that revelations of "true colors" separated the grain from the chaff.

The self-esteem thing is a different issue, IMO, although some good points have been made regarding the need of some to pump up their own self-esteem by degrading others.
