seeking info on aclsal signal hardware and procedures

greenspun.com : LUSENET : ACL and SAL Railroads Historical Society : One Thread

I am seeking a source of basic information, ideally with photos or diagrams, about the types of signal hardware used on acl and sal during the mid-1950's, as well as signalling procedures. I suppose a rules book for the two railroads would have some of this information, but where are these to be found? Any suggestions anyone?

E-bay is probably the best place to pick-up rule books...usually go for about $10-12.

I have an original SAL Signal Standards data book. It is about 200 large format blue-line pages. It includes diagrams of every type of SAL signal, gate crossing, foundation...etc. Is there something specific you are looking for???

A rule book is a good source for the procedures. I have obtained several from ebay.com. Keep checking and you'll eventually find what you are looking for. I have reproduced the SAL signal aspects from the 1962 rule book in HTML format and would be glad to send you an email with a copy of the file attached. Just let me know.
