July 18, 2000 Residents Ordered To Boil Water

Residents in the Chisholm Trail subdivision near Georgetown have been ordered to boil their water before drinking it.

A ruptured pipe reduced pressure to the water storage facility and officials are concerned that the water may have become contaminated. Residents living in the Davenport and Rivercrest subdivisions in Austin have been told that it is no longer necessary to boil their water. A technical problem in switching the area's water supply service to the city of Austin on Friday caused air to get into the pipes. Officials have determined that the water is safe to drink.
