TAXPAYER ALERT!!! The Dept of Licensing in concert with the Dept of Revenue is about to levy sales tax on the transfer of used Motor Vehicles based on the Kelly Blue Book retail Value, instead of the currently used Actual Sales Price

greenspun.com : LUSENET : I-695 Thirty Dollar License Tab Initiative : One Thread

We must not let this go unanswered it is time for a new initiative to "EXEMPT" sales tax on the transfer of ANY motor vehicle that was previously registered in the State of Washington. Why should we take it in the shorts anylonger? How much sales tax do you suppose Bill Gates paid when he bought that multi-million $ artwork a couple of years ago. Not as much as when we buy a 1978 Pinto.

Call your elected officials and get INVOLVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

to Roy: No, I don't agree with you.

One of the most offensive taxes of all is the gasoline tax. Sales taxes from the sale of cars should be dedicated to transportation solutions (i.e., roads).

Using your logic, society will be less likely get rid of the gasoline tax.

The pain and suffering of sales tax on a used car sometimes has a silver lining, as a buyer of a new car can reduce his/her sales tax by trading in their used car.

To apply your logic fairly, society should eliminate the sales tax credit, if society can never tax a car again, once it is registered in the state of Washington.

I would much rather see the state of Washington eliminate the gasoline tax, as well as sales taxes on prescription drugs. Eliminating the sales tax on used cars (previously registered in the state of Washington) is a foolish policy. It will encourage folks to buy used cars over new cars. I'd much rather see society figure out creative ways of inducing people to buy new cars, instead.
