What makes YOU restless?--Al

Work makes me restless. I get more exercise when I'm on deadline than at any other time. I pace, I clean house (I need to be on deadline more often, obviously!), I find a million things to do other than sit down and write the damn thing I'm supposed to be writing.

Tension makes me restless. I grew up with a rage-aholic and so when I can sense a situation becoming tense, I get extremely restless and try to make funny, trivial comments that will ease the tension.

Food makes me restless. Now that I'm dieting, going somewhere with an unlimited supply of food I really like makes me very restless. However, on nights like tonight, when I survived, I feel very good about myself.

Being in a waiting mode (doctor's office, a long wait for a turn after checking in some where, etc.) and not having a book with me to read, or someone to converse with, people watching in this instance boring. Being tied to that spot and not able to stroll around. Then I get restless.

Being in the constant company of others, expected to constantly engage in some activity, makes me restless. The nerd inside says: "I just want to sit alone with a cup of coffee and that book I'm reading..." My family is mostly country folk, and visiting them means lots of quiet time, time to read, go for walks, swim, ride horses, etc. My husbands family, however, plans every minute of our vacations or family trips, filling every spare moment with some shopping, concert, etc. They cram so much into a day, their vacation feels like work. Now that I know other familes I see that I was raised admist a sea of introverts.
