I was in the city the other day and observed that the wave is alive and well there also the city folk, who are always in a hurry , have just shortened it to one finger and they shure must be friendly cause they gave it (the wave) to almost everyone.............JAY

There are quite a few rules associated with "the wave"....On dirt roads one must always wave, two fingers up from the steering wheel is the lazy wave, but acceptable when the travellers are unacquainted, no waving on state highways unless you know the passersby fairly well, when in the city in slow traffic and mixed with a small amount of road rage, "the wave" takes on a life of it's own!

Funny -- I've always known the "city wave" as "the salute"....anyone know why it's sometimes referred to as "the bird"??? I'd like to know.

The wave--my Dad was a little cowboy & he waved at everyone he ever met in his whole life! But the fingure next to his thumb on his right hand/ he spun it like he was ropeing--was his wave---my Dad died almost 10 years ago---now I have a grandson who is 5 years old, & one day I saw him wave the same way my dad use to wave--I can't explain it --all I could do was cry! I haven't seen him wave again that way/ & I don't know where he learned it---but it was a special event in my life---see it doesn't take much to make me happy! Sonda in Ks.
