ROHNERT PARK -- Equipment failure cut off incoming phone service for a couple of days at Rohnert Park City Hall. No calls could go into City Hall nor could faxes or computer e- mail.

The service quit late Monday morning and was back on by about 3 p.m. Tuesday.

Pacific Bell officials said a hardware breakdown at the central phone line facility in Rohnert Park caused the lines into City Hall to quit working.

Crews worked around the clock replacing it, finally getting things on line by Tuesday afternoon, said Heather Alexander, Pacific Bell spokeswoman.

At City Hall it should have been a bit quieter, but officials were busy using cell phones, trying to reach people who may be trying to reach them.

"It's one great big headache," said Troy Dettling, administrative assistant to the city manager.

Emergency calls and business calls to the police and fire departments were not affected.
