why does the NESC even give the youth riders a rank ("A", "B", & "C")?most youth classes are like open classes, everybody running together and everyone gets ranked according to what they finished and they dont separate the class and give them individual points.

I have a similer question- Why do they even make you put the y (youth) stickers on your bike if your in the 80-60-or50'S its not like they run 2 age groups in those three classes
