before i start writing anything... what kind of bike do you have?? If it is a 4 stroke then you can't tell when your really in it (i hate those stupid things i always feel im bogging on them, i don't actually believe they have a power band!)

Power band is when your bike just, well, as my mom explains it.. snaps and takes off. I don't know much about bikes, but i don't believe its an actual thing... (ok, if it is people, leave me alone, i only ride the things)

When i first started riding, i never hit powerband. Now i can never stay out of it. It's like driving a standard... You don't shift until you are in it. It may be that you are shifting too early, wait till the bike is "winding" out. I also learned (the hard way) that you have to have the right riding postition because unexpectidly the bike just takes off.

My mom is still getting use to it (and learning pretty fast) but she use to tell my dad something was wrong with the bike... you have to twist the throttle and go fast to be in it, when first learning,it can be pretty scary... i use to think i was outta control or something. I don't know what you ride, other wise i could prolly help more. But have someone you ride with or something take it down a straight away testing the gears to tell ya if its just you, or if your bike needs a fixin.

Kara, the powerband is not a physical object that you can put your hands on. It is where most of the power of your engine is. On a 125 most of the power is with the throttle more and the rpm's up. Hope that makes sense.

I had the same problem until I saw a powerband at Wal-mart. It cost around $50 but is well worth it. I now fly over jumps and my kx296.7 goes really fast. It is made to fit all bikes. Good luck and happy walmart surfing.

Firstof all DO NOT EVER LISTEN to Jack!!! Second of all you;ll find your powerband. Just keep riding... suddenly you will find it and you will never be without it.

If you can not find your powerband than it is probably safe to say that somebody could have stolen it out of your bike when you were not looking, my advice is to watch over your bike at all times, even the smallest, most innocent looking children have been known to steal powerbands, so beware of the infanity of people today. P.S. K-mart is having a spectacular sale on powerbands this week. $20.00 to 49.99 depending on brand names like Saftey 1st.

Before you go and spend $50 on a new powerband, you should check the Want-Advertiser. You might be able to pick up a slightly used powerband that is in good condition and save yourself a few bucks.

first of all there is no such thing as a "POWER BAND" what everyone thinks is a POWER BAND is just a ignition curve. when your engine reaches a high rev the ignition curve arcs and gives your bike snap which is the so called POWERBAND . the longer u keep the throttle open u will hit the POWER BAND belive me you will know when u hit it.

Hmm, quite the contrery, now lets wait a minute here and think about it. Walmart does sell good powerbands. There is a such thing as a powerband. And too that guy who made the comment about the want ad. Excellent, excellent!! Sometimes you can find an excellent powerband for less money and quite the same quality. Well good luck.
