blinded

greenspun.com : LUSENET : New England Motocross Racing : One Thread

Every Sunday when I race regardless of the conditions, I can't keep roost from bypassing my goggles. So much dirt gets in my eyes, that I can hardly blink, and my eyes are so red at work the next day, co-workers look at me like I've been smoking the chronic. I have a Bell Moto-6 helmet, and Scott 89 goggles. At the end of a race I actually have to dump dirt out of my goggles. Does anyone else suffer from this problem, or is my head deformed?

p.s. I don't need any smart replies like "get the holeshot"

I use SMITH Violator Goggles and never have a problem with dust or dirt. They cost around $70 but they last forever and changing lenses is a snap.

I had the exact same problem.. It's a combination of both. If you use oakley gogles, it will stop or get a new helmet that has a larger opening.. It drove me nuts for a year until I figured it out..

Good luck..

You should rip the foam out from the bottom of your goggles.(not the foam that touches your face)I do that on all of my race and practice goggles. It works mint.

to help solve your problem with dirt i recemend either tightning you strap if that does'nt work put a small amout of vasoline on the inside bottom of your goggles and any dirt that goes in your goggels wil stick to the vasoline and the dirt won't float around in your goggles when you hit a jump. hope I was any help>>> JEREMY GONCALVES 496y

I RODE AT UXBRIDGE TODAY... AND I WORE PAT'S DRAGON GOGGLES ! THOSE WERE MINT ! I DIDNT GET ANY DIRT OR DUST IN MY EYES !

Dave....... As the former Spy rep and current Dragon rep for new England and New York State... there are many solutions to your goggle problem. Depending on the track (fine dirt) you can use sun tan oil on the vent foam (not the foam that touches your face) to filter out the fine dust. For larger gritty dirt you need to tighten your strapsand make a conscious effort to seat the goggles onto your face before the moto or you pull onto the track. Lastly be very sure that there is no loose grit from the van or the walk to the starting line (use ziplock bags if you can after you prep your goggles)... good luck
