Gartner Group analyst Ray Paquet
sees a little more sunshine, saying
mainframe sales could recover by
this fall. "A lot of companies
purchased excess mainframe hardware
and software to conduct their Y2K
testing, and they locked down the
use of those systems until well into
the first calendar quarter of this
