Suitable word in that phrase for those who never learned a thing *after they got it*: DOOMED.

And typical of those who get hoodwinked into any similar fringe thinking: THEY NEVER LEARN ANY MORE AFTER THEY ***GET ENOUGH OF "IT"*** what ever the "it" is. After all, if they continued to "learn" they might find contradictions that conflict with what they "learned" and ....well, Y2k Doomzies are a great example of why in another cliche:

"A **LITTLE** LEARNING is a dangerous thing". You then "know what you know" but what you don't know about the rest of it is in reality a demonstration of your *ignorance* and TB I, TB II, EZ and the rest of the fringer boards stand as evidence if not proof of that.

People need "LOTS" of learning in a continuous non-ending stream and that is what MIT and similar GREAT UNIVERSITIES EXIST FOR. The Net is not MIT or SMU or Pepperdine. The Net is not a "repository of knowledge" but rather a collection of data. There is a difference.

Andy Ray, the de-bunkers, and I had little to do with the END of this mess. Andy Ray and I with others merely put up constant "reminders" of the same sort of thinking you fall prey do when you listen to the wrong people and let yourself get "carried away".

For those who pride themselves in being "consistent" remember the words of the leader of the Chatauqua Movement: "Foolish Consistencies are the Hobgoblins of Little Minds".

And who is more consistent than Brer Gary, Ed, Little Stevie Non-Wonder, Lord Jim, Don McElvaney, Craig Smith, DooDoo Carmichael, the late Theobold and the rest of the CONSISTENTLY WRONG Y2k DOOM CONSTRUCTION CREW?

And like the infantiles of many other lists, YOU CAN"T TAKE THOSE REMINDERS. TOUGH. Deal with it. You will see them for years and years especially after ACADEMIA comes out with their "studies" of the Y2k Doom Movement. You are "historic". A "historical niche" but historic never-the-less.

And you should be proud of your "lineage": The Know Nothings of Y2k descend from the 1800s "Know Nothing Party", the "anti-Modernists" (North is direct with that), and many, many more but truly INSIGNIFICANT groups.

Those who wanted no censorship but still wanted to "believe" what "they know be they know it" KILLED this and anything like it. EZ will go on with all sorts of the weird and should merge with Renze's absurdity or that of Art Bell or the other "Net Weird".

Had "UN-Censored" been in place early in 1999, Yourdon's pit would have folded long before 2000. It would have collapsed into the same hard core that Gary's "general discussions" and Hyatt'boards went to. Now the ExLax EZ EY II shows what the orig. EY TB2000 would have moved to if it had stayed on the MIT servers of PG.

BUT..........they are "consistent" and........."Foolish Consistencies are the Hobgoblins of Little Minds".

The forum hasn't been shut down. It's doubtful that it will be. And given the number of posts that show up daily, this forum is anything but dead. Just because you don't agree with everything that's been posted here is no reason to announce our demise.

You cannot prove I sent any emails to Mr. Greenspun, therefore I must not have.
