Phones Out in Casa Linda Area

About 350 homes are without telephone service Thursday in the Casa Linda neighborhood east of White Rock Lake, Dallas police said.

Officials said a damaged junction box caused the outage about 11 a.m. in an area bounded by Creekmere Drive to the north, Garland Road to the south, Peavy Road to the west and Easton Road to the east. Southwestern Bell officials did not immediately return a call on the matter.

Dallas police and firefighters were patrolling the area to help any residents who might need emergency assistance while 911 is not available. Officers said anyone needing assistance should walk outside and wave down an officer.

Fire officials said Southwestern Bell expected to restore phone service by 9 p.m.
