Casting Call

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Aeon Flux : One Thread

I'm a newbie here, so if this is one of those "touchy subjects" that pisses newgroups off, I'm sorry -- but I thought it would be interesting to talk about who would best fit the bill for our beloved Aeon Flux characters. Any ideas?

Here's what I have so far:

Aeon Flux:

If you want to go mainstream, you could choose Courtney Cox (she could stand to gain about...50 pounds or so for the role -- LOL)...but if you want to get some real talent in there, how about Famke Jansenn? I could see both of them in the famous leather straps, to be honest (well that isn't saying much considering I think of them like that anyway....LOL).

Trevor Goodchild:

David Bowie! Anybody see this freak in LABYRINTH? He played off the female protagonist so well as the "enemy...or lover?" villain....so, not only could he pull it off dramatically, he also has the look of a sadistic ruler -- come on, how many of you watched AEON FLUX and were reminded just a bit of David Bowie when you saw Trevor Goodchild?

Out of ideas for now...anyone got anything to add?

What, again? Well, okay....

I'd like to see the guy who played Spike on Buffy the Vampire Slayer get about 6 inches taller, lose a few pounds, and play Trevor. And as Fon, I'd pick....Fon. Who else could there be? And aren't live action/ animated movies all the rage now?

Maybe being a bit critical, this really has been discussed at length. If you go over the old posts you will see this. If you can add anything new that would be good.

I wholeheartedly agree :)

What I wish I could see, (and maybe you will really think this dumb), but I was thinking wouldn't it be interesting to see a sort of "Peter Chung in Love" movie, (like the aforementioned movie, "George Lucas in Love" only you see the people that inspired Chung to do Aeon, not that I know these people exist, but wouldn't it be interesting to presuppose so, and show some girl who was the motivation for Aeon, this way she wouldn't have to 'fit the bill' ('cause she surely couldn't), and you could create a script with Chung himself in the film. Heck, I'd even like to see a fantasy sequence with the anime of Aeon/Trevor in his dreams, and I think it would be a fun script to play with.

Jim Carrey as Aeon, Arsenio Hall as Trevor. Oh, don't act like you wouldn't want to see that!

Joan Severance as Aeon, David Cronenberg as Trevor.

-- Paul (gilbreathfamily@worldnet.att.net), July 08, 2000.

you've got it backwards Frostbite, Arsenio Hall as Aeon, Jim Carrey as never.

-- Barb e. (Suesuesbeo@aol.com), July 09, 2000.

How about Marlon Brando as Clavius?

-- Paul (gilbreathfamily@worldnet.att.net), July 10, 2000.

Well, should we make the jokes about, 'room enough' for Trevor/Aeon to enter that secret room, hmmmm, out of respect, pass. Actually Brando is a great choice, that would be the beginning of a dream film for me right there, wasn't Brando great in," On the Waterfront", he was a contender all right, sigh, the old movies.

for aeon i think famke jansenn would be close but not perfect...casting the perfect aeon would be hard...but as for the perfect trevor....nick cage. if u saw face off u know what i mean......the eyes the hair the potential for intensity...this guys dead on for the role.

Joan Crawford as Aeon?

There has been lots of suggestions for Sting to play Trevor Goodchild. And I dunno why but to me, Sting IS Trevor Goodchild. =)

-- Ophelia (echo@wantree.com.au), September 14, 2000.

My brother suggests Sting, and feels just the same as you do. I can see it too, but between Sting and David Bowie, I guess I would pick Bowie. However, ever hear 'Moon over Bourbon Street?', based on Interview with a Vampire, it has that drama that Trevor has, very difficult pick between those two.

-- Barb e. (Suesuesbeo@aol.com), September 14, 2000.

my vote is for Bowie as well, Sting isn't bad enough. I think Bowie would be bring the perfect personality and attitude to the role. Kind of the guy from Labryinth without the big hair and strange wardrobe

-- William (stateofflux@yahoo.com), September 14, 2000.

That's funny. My reasons for picking Bowie are that after hearing 'Wild is the wind' I believe he must've had his heart broken somewhere along the line. To me, Sting looks a little too cool, Trevor's charm is that he loses it. Ask any girl.

Well now maybe its my own tastes but Sean Penn as trever. If only he was taller. Kelly from survivor as Aeon. No I'm just kidding. Myself as Trevor, I'm tall, lankey I could stand to lose about 20 pounds for the roll(so I look sick like Trevor),my hair is blond. Although sadly I have a small nose. But that can be fixed. How bout it Peter I'll take pictures of my body and E-mail them to you Sound good? No I thought not. Anyone want pictures of me? come on, I always hear the net is full of freaks! Lets get dirty! Sorry, Sorry, Sorry I'll bow my head in shame and never post again.

-- NAdar D. Richards (nadar@BigPoppaPump.zzn.com), September 15, 2000.

I think I look vaguely like Trevor, especially in profile... and I'm definitely skinny enough. Still, he has a sort of muscularness about him that I'm lacking completely...

-- Matthew Rebholz (matrebholz@yahoo.com), September 15, 2000.

After watching Entrapment, I have determined that Catherine Zeta Jones IS Aeon.

-- Chaos Knight (chaosknight@charterr.net), September 19, 2000.

I thought the same thing after watching that... it must have something to do with the butt shots as she slinks between laser beams... :)

-- Matthew Rebholz (matrebholz@yahoo.com), September 19, 2000.

I don't know about that, I didn't have any ass scans for a frame of reference, but at the time I was watching it, I was processing some screenshots, and I had a shot of Aeon with her hair all flattened out, and the resemblence was quite good.

-- Chaos Knight (chaosknight@charterr.net), September 20, 2000.

This is the best headshot of Catherine Zeta Jones I could find (next time entrapment is one, I'll grab some footage from it)

It's not the best example, but it does show some of the similarities.

-- Chaos Knight (chaosknight@charterr.net), September 20, 2000.

She has the look. Photo debut here, dresses up the place. It's good to be king.

-- Mary Brody (Marybrody@aol.com), September 22, 2000.

I won't say anything about the main characters but the extras and supporting cast for this show should be taken into cosideration more. Where will anyone find that many Mesomorphic Males, and tiny waisted, large breated females? Pro wrestling could supply some but everyone in this animated show has some form of dynamic look. which is good but a live action version would hopefully try to reflect this.

-- NAdar (nadar@BigPoppaPump.zzn.com), September 24, 2000.

Here's a better headshot.

-- Chaos Knight (chaosknight@charterr.net), October 10, 2000.

That girl has a beautiful face, but she doesn't look as if she could or would whip Trevor into shape. She's too soft and feminine here, is it just the shot? Got anything, hmmm, 'tougher'? More powerful looking? Maybe lethal is the right word.

-- Barb e (Suesuesbeo@aol.com), October 11, 2000.

That kind of angular face really could only be found on a supermodel (or someone similarly thin and exquisite)

-- William (stateofflux@yahoo.com), October 12, 2000.

I think Catherine Zeta-Jones would be fine for the role. Angularity isn't a problem, I don't think anyone exists that has that certain animated something that Aeon possesses, so why try? Catherine (and many others) have the overall appearance, the rest can be filled with acting.
