Details of pulman green color scheme

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Central of Georgia Railway Historical Soc : One Thread

I was not aware, until reading below, there was an intermediate color scheme between the blue/gray and the Southern black. Was it all green? What color lettering? Any other details?

Thanks, JLM

John, the Central switched to a simplified "Pullman Green" paint scheme in 1959. This was a cost cutting move that seemed to be a trend among most railroads during this time period. The color varies in photographs from a very dark green to a medium green color. Bob Harpe did a modeling article in "The Right Way" , our society magazine that describes this color scheme.
