It's a Supergroup! : LUSENET : Hedgehog Talk : One Thread

I saw the trailer for Space Cowboys on Monday, which stars Clint Eastwood, Tommy Lee Jones, Donald Sutherland and James Garner as astronauts, and you know what? I couldn't care less about the quality of the film--the reviews could say that it is the worst all-star extravaganza since Cannonball Run, but you know what? It'll still be Clint Eastwood, Tommy Lee Jones, Donald Sutherland and James Garner as astronauts, and you couldn't keep me away with a stick.

Whoops! I forgot the actual question part of the question. What grouping of actors would make you feel the same way?

-- Kymm (, July 05, 2000.

In no particular order, Cate Blanchett, Russell Crowe, Chris Haywood, Toni Collette, Hugo Weaving, Judi Davis, Rachel Griffiths, Alan Rickman, Bruno Ganz, and John Cusack.

Man, what an ensemble piece that'd be. But it'd have to be everyone with their real accents, or no go.

-- Amanda Page (, July 05, 2000.

No particular group (I haven't paid close attention to popular culture since 1985, I think, and don't really care about much that's happened after 1959 (except my birth)), but I sure wish they'd make another all-star cast movie like "Around the World in 80 Days," "It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World," "Judgement at Nuremburg," etc. Fantastic movies all, and a surprise cast member around every corner.

"In and Out" came close, but not close enough to get me in the theatre.

-- Robert (, July 05, 2000.

Jeremy Irons, Russell Crowe, Ray Liotta, Sting (yeah, I know), and we'll balence that heap 'o tostestorone with Jessica Lange, Gwenyth Paltrow, and Liv Tyler. I couldn't watch that in a theater though it would have to be in the privacy of my own bedroom.

-- Amy T. (, July 05, 2000.

Angelina Jolie as a broken-down housewife who snorts whipped cream in the dead of night. Joan Cusak as her lesbian lover. Nick Nolte as the beleagured truck-drivin', hard-lovin, whiskey-knocking, boot- slappin' husband. Whoopie Goldberg, Ralph Fiennes, all three Powerpuff Girls and a big delicious heaping of Winona Ryder as the travelin' blues band which comes to Buttfuck Illinois, bringing light and life into my delicious Angelina's life.

Cameos by Erik Estrada as a cop hustler, Cate Blanchett as a hot dog vendor and acres of Bruce Campbell as a jacuzzi salesman.

It ends with a sing-along, Angelina being borne across the floor of a honky-tonk in the arms of a dozen shirtless fireman, while the rest of the cast hums and twirls to a rousing chorus of "These are a Few of My Favorite Things."

My dream movie. Sigh.

-- Jen (, July 05, 2000.

Matthew Broderick and Lili Taylor.

All I need.

-- Jackie (, July 05, 2000.

John Cusack, Patrick Stewart, Ben Affleck, Jason Lee, Samuel L. Jackson, Helen Hunt, Robert Duvall, Nicholas Cage, Meg Ryan, Tom Hanks, Lili Taylor.

What the hell kind of movie would house those people? Pulp Fiction meets The Age of Innocence? :)

-- Jenna (, July 06, 2000.

Russel Crowe, Samuel L. Jackson, Liam Neeson (WITH the original scottish accent) Sean Connery, Harrison Ford (I still love him despite all his recent flops...Indy and Han Solo have a speacial place in my heart) and Julia Ormond. THAT would be a blockbuster if they all just sat in lawn chairs and sipped Kool-Aid for two hours.

-- Ri (, July 06, 2000.

Warren Oates and Harry Dean Stanton, with a supporting cast including Ed Begley, Jr., Troy Donahue, Millie Perkins, and Steve Raislback, written by Charles Willeford, who plays a bit part, directed by Monte Hellman (Two-Lane Highway, and produced by Roger Corman.

Whoops--already made it. Cockfighter.

-- Jack Saunders (, July 06, 2000.

Correction: Two-Lane Blacktop.

-- Jack Saunders (, July 06, 2000.

Assuming some help from the celestial casting office...

Derek Jacobi, Ian Holm, Vincent Price, Clifton Webb, Samuel L. Jackson, Danny Glover, Tony Shaloub, Ray Walston, Camryn Manheim, and Holland Taylor.

-- Laura (, July 06, 2000.

Liam Neeson's accent isn't originally Scots, it's Northern Irish.

-- Kymm (, July 06, 2000.

Tom Cruise, Rene Russo, Russell Crowe, Martin Lawrence, Jim Carrey, Freddie Prinze Jr., Samuel L. Jackson, Matt Damon, Mel Gibson, D.B. Sweeney, Nicolas Cage, Jackie Chan, Joaquin Pheonix, Sean Penn, Bruce Willis, George Clooney, Chris Elliott, Meg Ryan, and Amy Irving.

Though I can't imagine what kind of movie would bring them all together.

Towering Inferno II?

I'm there.

-- Catherine (, July 06, 2000.

Any movie with John Cusack and/or Alan Rickman. In my humble opinion, any movie with either of these actors is a must see. And not so much lately, but anything with James Garner in it is my cup of tea.

-- Don (, July 06, 2000.

Apparently Ray Liotta and the under-rated (IMHO) Joseph Fiennes are doing a movie together..wonder if it'll make it down under? But they could read the phone book for all I care.. Charlotte Rampling would make up a wonderful trio for me. Actually, I'll throw in Spike..are we allowed a character, as opposed to an actor?

-- jacqueline (, July 06, 2000.

Jacqueline, if you're referring to Spike in `Buffy', the actor's name is James Marsters.

-- David Frazer (, July 07, 2000.

I know, David..I'm interested in the character of Spike..I was just casting my movie with a token vampire, y'see...heck, why not? ;-)

-- jacqueline (, July 07, 2000.

Yeah, but he can't exactly work during daylight hours, can he? :)

-- David Frazer (, July 09, 2000.

Derek Jacobi. Ian Holm. Kenneth Branagh. Okay, they made that one. Henry V.

Umm... Famke Janssen. Patrick Stewart. Ian MacKellan. whoops. X-men.

Uh... Scott Glenn. Kevin Kline. Alan Rickman. Carrie-Anne Moss. 'Neo-- Prince of Silverado'? eh, I'd go see it anyway.

-- Colin (, July 10, 2000.

Keanu Reeves, Jenifer Connoly, Will Smith, Jody Foster, Ben Affleck, Helena Bonham-Carter, Arnold Schwartzeneger, Sophie Marceau, Reece Witherspoon and Liv Tyler. In one of those multiple stories that all have a common aspect that join them. The common aspect being they are all at some point unimaginably nasty to Eric and Julia Roberts although we never have to look at Eric or Julia.

-- Daniel (, July 11, 2000.

"The Pirates of Penzance" with Joe Dallesandro as Major General Stanley; Beatrice Dalle as the ditzy maid "Ruth"; Space Ghost as the "good" pirate; Willem Dafoe as the pirate king (a perfect role for his skill at lampooning masculine bravado); and Jenna Jameson as the virginal "Mabel."

-- Poppy (, July 19, 2000.

for me it would have to be Joaquin Pheonix, Heath Ledger, Meg Ryan, Cuba Gooding jnr, Kate Winslet and Robbie Williams!! at least that way we'd get some decent music. but if this is MY movie then there has to be one rule....ALL the female cast leave Joaquin alone and he doesnt get ANY kissing scenes!!!
