BC rainforest

This is one of my favorite forest pictures... Taken on the west coast of Vancouver Island (Juan de Fuca trail, if you know the area). What do you think?

That is a totally stunning photograph...I'd love to be there right now. A place for perfect meditation. I live in redwood forest country in California, but it is hard to photograph due to the high contrast levels on sunny days. The Northwest area of North America has the advantage of frequent overcast skys lending itself to beautifully filtered light. I think this is why so many forest photographs from that area of the country are color rich and deeply saturated. Very nice job.

Of geological interest: the Juan de Fuca plate is one of the few areas on the pacific coast were subduction is still taking place.

I always love photos of rainforest and this one is great. I am looking to visit Vancouver and the Canadian Rockies in September. Do you know of any good sites to visit to plan the trip? (ie places to go, stay at , rent cars etc). Hope I get some shots to match this one.

I have two nitpics about this image. First, the stream runs from smack-dab in the middle of the image straight down to the middle of the bottom edge. That makes it a bit too static. Having it angle through the image would have helped a lot. Secondly, it is all too monochromatic. There is nothing but shades of green here. A contrasting color, say pink or red wild flower in the foreground would break up the monotony of the greens. Aside from those two things, I think you have a very nice subject to work with here.

O.K. perhaps the top is a bit monochromatic, does that make the bottom half "duo-chromatic"?

I love how the lines of the stream are closely bordered with a similar wavy pattern of those light green leaves...on the lower half. Top is nicely framed by the trees. It may be nice to ask your printer to bring out the blues in the water to yeild a tad more accent...but that's gettin' picky.

Overall, nice photo

In contrast to the above, the stream in the center leads the eye quite nicely. And green is what this is about. Putting a red flowing there would be more than out of place, it would be an eye sore.

My only criticism is that it seems a bit light overall, perhaps a bit of overexposure, or the scan? Nothing to worry about thiough, it is great as it is.

Nice shot, Andrei. I don't mind the green at all. I think you've captured the sylvan or verdant mood of this scene nicely.

I keep changing my mind as to whether I like the composition or not. The stream leads nicely back to the two trees, but I'm not wild about the angle. This may be an issue of personal taste; I think I would have gotten a lower angle on the stream and let it dominate the bottom half of the photo.
