A 200-foot stretch of Capistrano County Beach
Park has reopened after a 50-gallon sewage spill
closed the beach June 26.

The beach was reopened late Thursday afternoon
after the Orange County Health Agency determined
bacteria levels were within state guidelines, according to
Monica Mazur of the agency.

In May, an estimated 8,000 gallons of sewage
closed a portion of Capistrano County Beach for four
days.

Since the first of the year, sewage spills have closed
portions of Dana Point's beaches seven times.
