07/03 20:13 Taiwan Power Warns of Rationing Unless Use Curbed, TT Reports By Brett Cole

Taipei, July 4 (Bloomberg) -- Taiwan Power Ltd., the island's biggest electricity generator, urged people to conserve power to prevent rationing after daily consumption of electricity in Taiwan rose to a high for the year last Thursday of 26,150 megawatts, just 2,650 megawatts below from mandatory rationing, the Taipei Times reported, without citing sources. If a power outage occurs, Taiwan Power will reduce power to industries that consume more than one megawatt daily by 10 to 15 percent, the newspaper reported. Taiwan consumers who use less than one megawatt of power may also be subject to rationing, it reported.

Taiwan suffered island-wide power blackouts last July and September.
