greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

Does anyone out there near the vicinity of WEstern Washington have a wood stove they are looking to sell? I hope this is ok to ask here--I have been looking in the paper and etc., but have not had any luck. Thanks ! Lynn

Hi Lynn, I don't have a stove for you, but did you check the Little Nickel? That's where I have seen the most advertised. Since you probably did, have you thought about posting your own ad in the Wanted column? Maybe in the Times, PI, or whatever local paper you have? I have done that with good results before for different things

Also, often what is offered on the used market are stoves that are not certifiable...they wouldn't pass current state, county, or EPA regs for installation. Good idea to find out for sure. If you consider getting one anyway, be advised that your insurance company won't cover you for any fire that might occur as a result of your stove.

We have purchased used stoves from Energy Innovators in Monroe in the past. They also install them. Monroe Fireplace and Stove might have them, too...they offer great service and will be getting busy soon.

There is also a place in Skykomish that has used cookstoves and woodstoves. I never can remember their name! But I have purchased from them before and they also made some new parts for my 1936 Kalamazoo.

Maybe start calling Rich's or some of the big places in the Yellow pages and ask questions..they can probably turn you on to somebody. That's how I start a lot of my research! Just call and start asking!

Good luck!

Lynn, we are in Ks. & sell used stoves all the time--but here for insurance to write you--it has to be U.L. approved---which is underwriters laboatory. We sell others that are not, U.L. approved to the guys to put in shops, etc. that are not insured. But here in Ks. you have, to have it written on the stove that it is U.L. approved to be able to get insured. Might want to check if you are going to be insured---we are so amazed at how many people, in our area have no insurance & don't care, as long as it is a good stove(and we make them a good deal)! Sonda in Ks.

I was surprised at the number of good stoves on eBay, and low prices, but if the seller wasn't near you, shipping could easily cost more than the stove.

Thanks for your responses--I should have said that it would need to be one that the insurance company would approve! I have been looking for over a month, in the local papers and have also checked out the Little Nickel, but there seems to be quite the demand for the few that there are right now. I had not thought about e-bay!! I will see what there is there---thanks again!! Lynn

Lynn,

How quickly do you need the woodstove? We took out the woodstove of our house that we are selling and might be able to sell it if the new owners don't want it. It works great, has a new glass door and is UL approved (has a sticker on the back with clearances, etc.) I am in Lake Stevens (in Snohomish County).

Lynn, I have a brand new, never used wood stove, in the box, think it came from Germany. It is taking up space. I will sell it for what it cost me. I think it was $250.00 plus. If you are interested, please answer.
