Forest in the clouds

Trees in the clouds.

Taken last October from the Lower Ridge Trail on Standing Indian Mountain, Southern Nantahala Wilderness, NC. Technical details: Minolta 50mm @ f/2, 1/30th, Kodak E100VS.

The scan is sharper than here, but I had to resize to get it under 50k.

I like your photo. I have not taken a successful fog in the woods shot, so I'm impressed. What I've generally tried is to do is get closer with a wide angle to reduce the fogginess of the subject tree, but like I said, I've just never liked my outcomes.

Thanks for your comments; apparently they're the only ones I'm going to get! :)

I may well have used a wider angle lens that day, but for the fact that I couldn't get a speed at which to handhold at anything lower than f/2, and the only thing I had brighter than f/2 was my 50mm (here, stopped down from f/1.2).

Hopefully I'll have more discussion-provoking images to post when I get back from Mexico next month, or Iceland the month after that.
