Ho-hum week of July 2

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Stand : One Thread

Messages which might need to be seen in the next decade or so due to time constraints or breaking news or because it is the least painful alternative to sorting the laundry. Remember to check the"new answers" link for the most active topics. This topic will run for a week, and then we will start a new dated "urgent" file.

The big July 4 piece in the front page of the Freeman is now online here. You may want to download it for your own files in case you need to pass it on to anyone as an overview, since I don't know if they save these as an archive at all. Eurich had it featured at his site.

Just found this from the Rhnebeck school district on-line minutes of RHINEBECK HIGH SCHOOL BLPT MINUTES February 24, 2000

III. The Indian Logo/Mascot/Symbol - Bias awareness - there is not any bias awareness being addressed in our school. - There is a concern that eventually this issue will come to a head - we need to change before outside forces become involved. - How do we eliminate the symbol by being proactive? - A statement that the BLPT (after discussion) has agreed that we need to consider changing our team name and logo. In light of the sensitive nature of logos/names associated with Native American, the BLPT recommends that the Board of Education eliminate the symbol/name. We want all constituents to participate in the renaming of our symbol.

I guess BLPT means Building Leadership Team...anyone know anymore about this? Tobe
