Plane crash kills 12 in Philippines

A military plane carrying 12 people crashed into the sea off the western Philippines, killing one of the country's top generals.

Reports also say at least one of the passengers survived.

A spokesman for the Philippine Air Force says the nine-seat Nomad plane was on a medical mission about 600 kilometres southwest of Manila.

The cause of the crash is not yet known.
