Bombjack settings again...

greenspun.com : LUSENET : MAME Action Replay : One Thread

...And another Bombjack question...

I uploaded a score on Bombjack set 1 today (loosy 2.2mil) on TG settings cause I thought that that was the new "default" setting.. but only Lord Gaz and my recording are on TG setings...

I don4t mind playing on harder settings but I think that the default scores should be removed then... Correct me if I4m wrong but was there not a thread on the board some month ago that TG settings should be used??

Please tell me wich settings to use thanks..

I saw Mike Haward's comment joined to his recent entry of bombjack ; and I have to say that I'm also very bad at this game even if I like it a lot : on default my best is about 1 million

So maybe it 's a marathon game but not for everyone ; maybe you should split it but please keep the default not to discourage poor players like me

I think that most of those marathon games should be split up to a marathon setting/and maybe TG or 5 men only settings..

And Phil: Bombjack is not an easy game to master.. But when you get the hang on it i can assure you it is a marathon game :)

The hint to score high is not to be greedy... and concentrate on getting 50k bonus on levels that you won4t die at.. Skip the bonus at 90% of the stages after 20-30..

It took me about 14 years to get 10 mil on Bombjack (with a little break of 13 years :)and some hints from Beejay. Just play it for some days and i can assure you Phil that you will reach 2-3 mil easily.. On default.. Tg is a little harder..

Bombjack score list has been fixed; all default setting games have been lowered to just below a 'reasonable' TG setting score. Note that Frederico's 2nd last upload was accomplished on what I believe is harder-than-TG settings.

For my 2 cents on the marathon vs. TG debate, I'm almost completely against marathon gaming, partly because I'm a confirmer and partly because it just isn't very exciting to watch on most games. I don't like the idea of splitting a game into marathon AND TG-settings; one category per game should be enough, especially since it'll probably be the same person who takes both categories.

I do however, agree with gong to 5 lives and harder than TG settings for specific games, if that is what is required. Q*Bert, Mr. Do, Gyruss and Joust have been mentioned so far--I would encourage the bplayers holding the high scores on these games to get in contact with me and tell me what they think. Joust is now considered a TG-only game, and the score board will be modified by me sometime this week.

Incidentally, wasn't BeeJay going to submit a TG Bombjack game? I could have sworn he had broken 10 mil as well?!?

Beejay has been talking about that 10 mil recording a long time now, and i think he will do one sooner or later QT.. He said to me last night that he was taking a break for some time after deca2000..

But If Beejay submits a bombjack score on The hardest settings available, it will be a marathon game anyway!! Ten mil is no prob for that man on TG settings.. I just know that..)

I've just played back Frederico G's Bomb Jack game which has suddenly appeared from nowhere but is dated Jan'99. It plays back ok with the windows version of MAME 33 by the way as well which is good because the machine I use is DOS disabled. Score: 5245120 Level: 234, not bad for the settings he uses and I believe he could have gone on for longer if he'd wanted to.
