Survivor Show -- last night's episode

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

Okay -- I watched this last night. As my husband sat there laughing at me, I sighed with relief that Rudy was left alone. Call me a softie, but a man of his...maturity...that has made it this far, deserves the money.

I was, however, disappointed that Dirk got ousted. Not having followed it all the way through, I have to say that I may be off base here, but I think the guy (Sean) who was talking about the relief of a good BM was more deserving...

Isn't it funny how a show like this, staged by a network, can appeal to something primitive in us? It's like watching a modern version of Lord of the Flies! I don't watch television, except for the news, EVER. I'm surprised that this show, however staged it might be (as my DH scoffed throughout!) actually appealed to me on a very basic level!

Thoughts?

Tracy, I saw part of it. I think the people were concerned about Dirk's health, he was losing an awful lot of weight. I was hoping they'd kick off Sue because of her attitude. I don't remember her name, but the female rower got a good lesson in humility. Do you thnk there's a romance going on or not(Greg and ?)?

You would kick off Sue? The true leader? If you have watched this from the beginning you would know that she is really the one in which everyone depends upon. Dirk and the other fisherman were both lazy and didn't do anything for days on end. With condoms in the first aid kit, who cares if you believe the guy and it isn't a "romantic" trist, or the gal who said "it's all about sex". With the Clinton and Monica ordeal behind us we see how two folks can have a very different take on the same affair, she was all goo goo eyed in love and he saw it as just recreation! Sue and the gay guy, and the rower gal, are going to be the last of the three, and after they get rid of Rudy, things will be getting really interesting, my guess is that Sue and the Gay guy (how horrible that I refer to him as only this, since I can't remember his name!!) (and he goes all-la-natural in the next episode!) But it will get down to the two of them. I was very surprised that the other tribe won last night. They seem so weak and pathetic! Just laying around starving to death. I still vote and cheer for Sue as the final winner! I applaud strong women. Vicki (another strong woman)

Dirk irritated me with his religious mumbo-jumbo. I bet he'd be the next to go.

I believe it will be down to Sue and Richard (the gay-guy)too. Just being a senior citizen doesn't make you deserving. This is truly about those playground ethics-- who likes who, who truly leads (even if from behind) and who keeps promises and pulls their weight. I've really onle seen one full episode, but this reality stuff (even self- created) is interesting on occassion.

I finally caught an episode. I understand the basic 'voting' thing, but what are they going to do when it's down to just two. Is someone supposed to vote their self out of a million? Are they going to wrestle to the death? Or what would make it truly exciting, cut off all food and resources and see who can really outsurvive the other? Nah, can't see that happening.

The last 7 surviors voted off, will vote on the final 2, so I think it will be extra important to be nice to your enemies during the final vote offs. Perhaps some under the table pay offs? It will be interesting to see. Did anyone besides my family, think of going over to the other tribe and stealing a chicken or the fishing spear? Thanks for remembering Richards name! I just love folks who push the envelope! Vicki

Rudy won't make it...he just rubs people the wrong way. Heck they voted BB off after he almost singlhandedly built their hut! Richard has the best chance among them, being not only useful, but friendly .

We have watched this from the first, one of the few TV programs other than news that we watch. Also watching the 1900's House--interesting. I picked Sean, the doctor who spent all day making a bowling alley instead of helping the tribe find food, as the one who should go last week. He is basically a spoiled brat, and lazy to boot. There are three that would get my vote for the winner. Rich, Sue or Gretchen. She is quiet, but a hard worker, and a former survival school instructor. She's the one who wanted the hut moved back into the trees and not on the shore line. For a brief time, I wanted to go to Austrailia and be one of the next Survivor participants, but Don has about talked me out of it! Jan

Can someone tell me what night the Survivor show is on and what network? Since I rarely watch television, I wouldn't see commercials to know when it is on. I just thought I would check it out to see what the hoopla is about. More importantly, I would really like to see the 1900 house show so can you tell me where and when I might find that one as well. Thanks.

The 1900 House is on PBS, Monday nights at 8, at least Central time. Sorry, next Monday is the last installment but there was an advertisement for videos.
