Halifax Building Society

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Repossession : One Thread

I am being hounded by a firm of lawyers acting on behalf of Royal and Sun Alliance Insurance for a shortfall incurred 10 years ago. I have read that the Halifax does not chase after 6 years have elapsed. Are they correct in chasing me or does the 6 year rule apply as it is the insurance company and not the building society? The letters stated last August.

Halifax and Abbey National are now banks, by the way. Halifax's 'six year rule' and Abbey's seeming reluctance to pursue the Holmans in court over this issue are well documented on this site. It's worth spending a couple of hours looking over all the material. Good luck. E.
