BOYCOTT BULL RUN - BOYCOTT BULL RUN

greenspun.com : LUSENET : New England Motocross Racing : One Thread

If you really want to make an impact on the NESC, Boycott this weekend races at Bull Run and don't show up! If you have already pre-enterd count it as a loss. Stay home and save some money or go race at another place. Like Jack says. We have to stick together to make things change! 100% UNION ! Everyone in favor say ( I )

That is a good idea, however, why dont we wait and see if anything happens from last weeks fiasco. If nothing does, then we should all agree to boycott an entire event in the future. Maybe the next Middleboro or Bull Run.. Or maybe the Silver Cup..

Just a thought..

WOW ron its like you were reading my mind ! with the silver cup LOL

I think everyone should wait, don't pull another boycott that costs the riders more than it cost Middleboro. The Capeway Rovers forwarded about 100 entries minus a five dollar change fee so it cost them 1500. How much the riders spent on gas, gate fees, and lost contingency money is staggering, maybe $5000 plus! And it turned out to be an almost injury free day (and yes I realize there were fewer than normal riders) Now I know a lot of racers run their own businesses, how would you want your customers to tell you how to change the way your business was run? By boycotting you without telling you in advance what they would like changed? I know I wouldn't like that, would you? For sure some things need to be changed, but I think the riders need to tell the tracks and the NESC what they want in a businesslike curtious manner even if they don't get treated that way. And yes I do want everyone to go to Bull Run because with no riders I have no customers this weekend, but I also want to see things improve in New England for the riders so I'll have customers thirteen years down the road when my kids start college. Well that's my two cents, at least I signed my real name

YES PAUL U DID SIGN YOUR NAME THATS A START, BUT I THINK YOU R WRONG ABOUT THE BOYCOTT,WEVE BEEN TELLING MIDDLEBORO TO CHANGE THINGS FOR YEARS MAYBE THIS WILL FINALY WAKE THE DRUNKS UP AND THEY WILL IMPROVE THE TRACK. WE GO BACK IN 2 WEEKS DO U THINK THINGS WILL CHANGE? I HOPE SO BECAUSE MIDDLEBORO USED TO BE A NICE TRACK BACK IN THE 80S.

HERES SOME OF MY LONG TIME SUGGESTIONS FOR MIDDLEBORO, I MUST COMPLIMENT THE NEW CLUB HOUSE AND KITCHEN AREA FIRST , BUT THIS IS MORE IMPORTANT, A NEW TRACK DESIGN, OR SOME CHANGES, KEEP IN MIND THESE ARE ONLY SUGGESTIONS , I KNOW THERE ARE WATERING LINES IN CERTAIN PLACES BUT THEY CAN BE REARRANGED! BRING IN SOME BETTER MATERIAL FOR THE TURNS, BANK UP THE TURNS HIGH ! THEY REALLY SUCK AS FLAT. THATS WHY THEY ARE SO ONE LINE. FIX THE EXISTING JUMPS TO TABLE TOP STYLE AS THEY WERE A LOOOOOONNG TIME AGO! ADD MORE TABLE TOPS BETWEEN THE ONES ( MOUNDS ) THAT ARE ALREADDY THERE TO DRASTICALLY SLOW DOWN THE SPEEDS THIS TRACK HAS GOTTEN WAY TOOO FAST BY HAVING NOTHING BUT STRAIGHTWAYS UP AND BACK WITH NOTHING CHALLENGING ON THEM! I MEAN TABLETOPS,DON'T NEED DOUBLES OR TRIPLES, THEY ARE THE SAFEST JUMP FOR ANYONE, AND EASY TO MAINTAIN, ONE RIGHT AFTER THE OTHER, NOT A STRAIGHT AND THEN A JUMP LIKE AFTER THE MECHANICS AREA, THAT SUCKS TO. IF THE OPERATOR WITH THE PAYLOADER THEY USE TO SMOOOOOTH UP THE TRACK FOR THE NEXT DRAGRACE CAN'T MAINTAIN THE CORRECT ANGLES OF THE OBSTICLES AND BANKED UP TURNS THEN HIRE $$$ A DOZER WITH A STRAIGHT BLADE WITH A QUALIFIED OPERATOR TO KEEP THINGS THE SAME ALL THE TIME, I HOPE THEY DIDN'T STOP READING THIS AFTER I PUT IN THE HIRE WORD!!!! THEN ITS WATERING TIME! BUT BEFORE THAT, BETTER FLAGGERS NEEDED. NOT KIDS LOOKING THE OTHER WAY WATCHING THE LEADERS, AND SOMETIMES PEGGING ROCKS AROUND WAITING FOR THERE MEAL TICKET' ! I THINK PRACTICE SHOULD START EARLY, LIKE ABOUT 830, AND BE AN OPEN SESSION FOR 20 MINUTES, THE EXPERTS AS THEY ARE ALMOST ALL PREENTERED AND READY CAN CERTAINLY START AT THIS TIME, THERES NO REASON IN THE WORLD THIS CAN'T HAPPEN. AMATURS AND NOVICES SHOULD BE ALSO 20 MINUTES OPEN WITH 3 LAP WAVES, AS THAY CAN COME BACK OUT IF THEY DESIRE! THATS ONE HOUR TOTAL AND YOUR GIVING THE RIDER SOMTHING DIFFERENT. LIKE THE MAYBE WAY IT SHOULD BE! STARTING ANOTHER THING IS THE 3-4 LAP HEAT SHIT. THATS GOTTA GO, ALL HEATS SHOULD BE A MINNIMUM OF AT LEAST 6.WHATS ANOTHER 3 MINUTES? WE PAY GOOD MONEY TO RIDE , RIDING TIME IS MOST IMPORTANT TOO, RIGHT !! AND I THINK THAT CLUB DOESN'T HAVE ENOUGHT HELP , OR IT'S NOT ALL OF THEM WANT TO DO THE WORK OR PUT IN THE TIME. IF MY CALCULATIONS ARE CLOSE, AT LEAST 12,000 TO 15,OOO DOLLARS PER EVENT. 12 EVENTS A YEAR.( NOT COUNTING NEMA ). THATS ABOUT 180,000 A YEAR. AND THE 50 YEARS THE CAPEWAY ROVERS FAMOUS PLYMPTON ST MOTOCROSS TRACK HAS BEEN THERE, THATS ABOUT NINE MILLION DOLLARS !!!! THATS RIGHT 9 MIL, OVER THAT TIME. THERES NO GOD DAM REASON FOR THE WAY IT IS NOW . DOES ANYONE AGREE!!! HOW ABOUT SOME INPUT ON THIS GUYS ( OOPS ) AND GIRLS TOO! LOL,LOL , BOB PICHE MX31VET

I agree with you bob but I'm not sure how many people know that last year Dave Veracka offered to pay for middleborro to be re-designed by renting equiptment and having Keith Johnson design it and Paul Letendre run the eguiptment. Myself along with other riders went down to the track during the week to donate our time so we could improve the track at NO COST to capeway rovers. Everything was all set they said no problem so Dave went ahead and rented the equiptment and as soon as they arrived buzzard threw everyone out!!! It wouldn't have costed them a penny!! Thats their mentality!!

-- Dana Johnson (danajohnson22@hotmail.com), June 29, 2000.

I remember that Dana. I don't know why they changed their minds. Jack I hate to say this, but I think the track will be watered better at the next race, but the rest will probably be the same.... Maybe Jeannie and I will leave for the kid's Storyland vacation a day early

-- Paul Buckley (buckley@ici.net), June 29, 2000.

OBVIOUSLY NORMAN HAD TO GIVE THE OK, RIGHT ? WELL, WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED? AND WHATS BUZZARD, THE NEW PRESIDENT? I THOUGHT HE WAS ONLY THE GATE KEEPER AND THE ONE THAT TURNS ON THE WATER PUMP (WHEN IT'S WORKING) ! WELL, I HAD A CONVERSATION AT ONE TIME WITH CEASAR, (THE GUY OUT FRONT AT THE LANDFILL THAT GRADES UP THE TRACK) AND HE TOLD THAT HE DOESN'T HAVE TIME TO MAINTAIN ANY JUMPS LIKE THAT OR THE WAY THEY SHOULD BE, HE JUSTS COMES OVER AND FLATTENS THE COURSE OUT FOR THE NEXT EVENT. HE SAID ITS TOO DIFFICULT WITH THE LARGE LOADER. BUT AT ANY RATE, I CERTAINLY HOPE SOMETHING GETS DONE, ITS PITTIFUL WHEN YOU GO TO PRACTICE TRACKS THAT ARE BETTER THEN THE ONES WE RIDE ON. ITS ALWAYS BEEN THE SAME FOR DECADES. I REMEMBER ABOUT 25 YEARS AGO STANDING IN THE RIDERS MEETINGS AND WATCHING JOEY FERRINI ( NOW 40+EXP ) GETTING INTO VICIOUS ARGUMENTS ( WITH BILLY WYATT, THE REFEREE AT THAT TIME) AND ALMOST SQARING OFF IN A PHYSICAL CONFRONTATION. IT WAS LIKE THAT WEEK AFTER WEEK BACK THEN. I THINK AT THIS POINT THE TRACK WILL CONTINUE TO LOSE SOME BUSINESS, BUT THERE ARE OTHERS THAT JUST DON'T CARE. AS LONG AS THEY HAVE A PLACE TO RIDE. WILL HAVE TO SEE WHAT HAPPENS. I ONLY GO FOR THE CONTINGENCY, IF THERE WAS NOTHING IN IT FOR ME I WOULDN'T EVEN RIDE. I HATE EVEN SAYING THAT. THATS MY 2 CENTS FOR 2-DAY !!

-- BOB PICHE (MX31VET@AOL.COM), June 29, 2000.

I THINK BULL RUN IS AN EXCELLENT TRACK, LOT OF WORK PUT IN OVER TIME SINCE IT STARTED, BUT THE BIGGEST COMPLAINT FROM A TON OF RIDERS (AND ME TOO), IS THE JUMPS, THEY HAVE THAT FLAT LANDING. I DON'T KNOW ABOUT YOU, BUT I CAN JUST ABOUT GET UP AND WALK TWO DAY'S AFTER RIDING THERE, AND I KNOW ITS FROM LANDING ON THE FLAT'S ( AND MY AGE TO !!). NEEDS TABLE TOPS, A DOWN SLOP TO LAND ON!.EVERYTHING ELSE IS GREAT.
