larntern marking

greenspun.com : LUSENET : ACL and SAL Railroads Historical Society : One Thread

I recently picked up an old Armspear lantern it is marked on the crown "S.A.L.E.RY" in raised letters. The red globe has etched S.A.L. in white letters. Does anyone know what the "E" is in S.A.L.E. RY. ?

Thank-you, Bob Freitag

Bob....I am told that those letters stand for Selma Alabama Electric Railway. Now,how true this is I am unsure.I have one of those lanterns too. Upon close inspection I noticed that there is no peroid between the " A" and "L", making it read " S.AL.E.RY". If anyone can shed some light on these lanterns, please speak up.
