Russia: Problems force shutdown at ex-Soviet nuke plants

MOSCOW, June 26 (Reuters) - Russian and
Ukrainian nuclear authorities said on
Monday technical problems had forced them
to shut down reactors at two ex-Soviet
power plants at the weekend, adding there
was no danger to the public.

disaster, state nuclear power company
Energoatom said officials had shut down
reactor number one at the country's biggest
plant, Zaporishska. The move followed a
short circuit in the reactor's electricity
generator on Sunday evening.
