I think Peter Chung came here because the discussions were so interesting, that's why I came, though I didn't contribute much, you guys are way ahead of me most times.

Shedding our animal nature, we prepare a vessel, for the advent of merging wills, we become like infants, primordial and innocent the return to the womb, the rebirth, what the demierge offers is opportunity to be made whole, to be one with the eternity residing in us. --trevor goodchild

So what exactly is he saying? humm i'm not to sure sounds to me like he's saying that the demierge can allow one to think like that of a child. And by doing this one can live in some kind of harmony, because a child's mind is free from vilolence, anger, avarice and all that of a war fighting adult. That when thinking as a child does, one can see the true "eternity". The innocence, the absoulte trusting and loving that only a child knows/understands. Humm what do you guys think?

-- Lady Morgan (Aeonfluxfan1@aol.com), June 27, 2000.

Woo-hoo, now there's a meaty topic! Ok, I'll bite: I think Trevor was talking about healing our separation anxiety, with his "return to the womb", most births are traumatic, some more than others. These days, there is a lot of speculation on the role of birth trauma in contributing to our alienation, anxiety, fears & depression. We have "rebirthing", which is a form of therapy involving breath & sometimes immersion in water. Being something of a New Ager myself, I find that a connected, deliberate breathing does calm me down, re-connecting me to a child-like state (some call it primary narcissism). Well, I'm rambling on, but that's what I got out of it. In parts Demiurge reminds me of the movie Altered States (although I like it a lot more). Anyway, good topic Morgan, talk to u later.

-- Paul (gilbreathfamily@worldnet.att.net), June 28, 2000.

Hey Paul, thanks for responding!

I'm not sure if i agree on the seperating anxiety thing. I think when he is saying return to the womb he is talking about somehow reclaiming the innocence that we were born with, that we later lose as we grow. That "rebirthing" sounds rather interesting, but i don't really see how you connect that with trevor's monologue.

Something that confused me was the "shedding of our animal nature we prepare a vessel, for the advent of merging wills" In this EP trevor is removing all of his body hair! i don't see how that is preparing a vessel for merging wills. Maybe by doing this act in his mind this is the closest he can get to the innocence of his childhood. And the merging wills part, humm will is determined by an act of choice. so merging wills? who's? everyone's? the demiurge? And what will this do create a new world that is united and happy?

I have never heard of altered states, i'm going to have to go check that out, i'm still trying to get lightyears! ugh!

-- Lady Morgan (Aeonfluxfan1@aol.com), June 28, 2000.

I believe that would be some of that there "explanatory dialogue" Pete was talking about.

-- Frostbite (mbkrooks@bellsouth.net), June 29, 2000.

Frostbite, riiight!

-- (SanguinaryDemon@aol.com), June 30, 2000.

Dunno about that... the monologue sounds too Chungian to be added after the fact. And I thought MTV wanted it easier to understand, not harder? BTW, welcome back Frostbite.

-- Paul (gilbreathfamily@worldnet.att.net), June 30, 2000.

I was looking at old posts and i came across this one, i would still like the in-depth look on Trevor's monologue here. I want to know what the shedding of his hair has to do with preparing a vessel for merging wills. I don't know perhaps i am trying to see something that isn't there, or the answer is so obvious that it doesn't deserve a response. Hey Paul where are you? heh :O)

-- Lady Morgan (AeonFluxFan1@aol.com), February 17, 2001.

Paul had to go, his planet needed him ;-)

-- William (stateofflux@yahoo.com), February 17, 2001.

Hmmm, suuuuure. :O)

-- Lady Morgan (AeonFluxFan1@aol.com), February 17, 2001.

Now with the real topic. I assumed shedding hair was the removal of the animal nature (us evolving from apes, getting less hairer, until we have no hair!?) and this some how allows him to transcend his physical body? merging wills and accepting some new spirit or shared spirit with the Demiurge. Something like that. :-)

-- William (stateofflux@yahoo.com), February 17, 2001.

What William said. Also, if people shave their heads to achieve clarity, why not go whole hog? (BTW, the "rebirthing" I mentioned is *not* the quack therapy that has been making headlines recently... just thought I'd point that out...)

-- Paul (nadisrec@worldnet.att.net), February 18, 2001.

Well, you found me out. I'm not really of this solar system. Actually, I come from the Pleiades. My assignment was to study the fringes of Earth culture, hence my presence on a Aeon Flux board. Other phenomenon I have been investigating: techno music, ancient spiritual practices and Japanese anime. What are these strange creatures called "bishounen"? They seem to possess a raging libido, and yet I am unable to identify the sex.

I would like to clear up some common misconceptions. First, we Pleiadians do not all look alike. We do think alike, but we all look very different. Second, we do not naturally preach love & peace. Our way of harmonious coexistence was taught to us by our neighbors, the Grays (really nice humanoids, you can't beat the Gray hospitality!) And third, contrary to what most humans think, we are not that popular techno trance group from Italy. Those are ordinary human beings.

I would love to stay & chat with you some more, but the mothership is calling, and I must return to my homeworld. The entity "Paul" is merely a vessel that am I speaking through. When I leave, he will wake up on his couch, and remember nothing... that is, if he takes the red pill...

Paul!!!You do listen to Art Bell!

-- Barb e. (Suesuesbeo@aol.com), February 18, 2001.

Ooooh, shedding animal hair is evolving, then that would put us girls sorta up there with hmmm Demiurges, maybe?

My head hurts now.

This Ep is similar to Altered States, exept in Altered States the primary character is seeking the opposite of Trevor. He is seeking complete primal simplicity.

This one(EP) is hard to find meaninging in and I beleive Peter once said that it was his least favorite because so much had to be cut. Although it appears to be cohesive perhaps it has true invisble(cut) meaning.

Stripped down this EP is based on religion, the rulers want it because it creates order. The rebels want to destroy all establishing institutions. However if you strip down a Aeon Flux not only do get aroused you miss so much else. It would seem that Trevor is shaving himself to do the medical procedure, as opposed to meeting the demiurge. The speech is side note a observation Trevor made on how being hairless feels(nothing quite like a shorn scrotum). The demiurge in his speech he treats like most religions treat death. i.e when you die you will have eternal paradise, when you die all will be made clear. Reicarntion beleifs usually have the idea of being made whole when you die in them. what Trevor wants to do is bring that eternity to earth to in essence release the soul of all living people and stop the proccess of the physical world. Shedding the animal nature again sounds like death, like we are no longer held by our sex drive, our desire to eat, and dominate one another. He want to bring true trasendance to earth. To sum up my point, shed you animal nature(die) prepare for a merging of wills(your true self or god). Is the demiurge god? Well for the purpose of this episode I beleive that he is.

On a side note. The book "destiny of souls" is case studies dealing with past lives and lives between lives. In this book Micheal newton PH.D. gives his findings on people in deepest hypnosis. He takes people back past there birth into a "spirt world". It states that the most learned of souls have a deep purple colour to them, purple is always associated with wisdom, royalty. The demiurge is also purple. From this we can take the demiurge is good, powerful, and wise.

The book is no-fiction Wheather or not its true remains to be seen.

I thought the Demiurge was blue?

-- Paul (nadisrec@worldnet.att.net), February 22, 2001.

Hm interesting post nadar, but i tend to lean more towards Paul's and Williams comments. The demiurge....it's an assortment of shades of blues, i see no purple. You are seeing things. heh, and as for the shaved scrotum comment? Really now...why is it you relate so many of ur posts to sex? I have come to the point where if i see your addy i don't read your posts at all. Figuring, most of it is a waste of my time, but although i must say, that you do have rather intriguing comments at times.

-- Lady Morgan (AeonFluxFan1@aol.com), February 22, 2001.

The demiurge is blue, but on my t.v. the light that he bathes is purple. Perhaps I'm arriving at points because my t.v. needs to be fixed? I see purple. As for the sexual content of my posts... I find sex is well, on my mind, and its a fun topic, maybe I need to grow up a little but I don't see or feel the need to personally. However if I'm offending people than I will cease with the crudeness.

I guess we all see what we want to see, I want the demiurge to be a good thing, so I create my meaning around that. This might also show us that Aeon is a humanist and loves herself, while Trevor despises himself and human kind in general. Discusted with itself a person will always, undoutably change the rest of the world. Only those who hate people would want to control them, but thats a different post.

Are you absolutly sure that demiurge doesn't give off purple light? Maybe a dark blue, verging on purple? I hate being out of sink with the rest of the world.

-- Rick Mercier (nadar@BigPoppaPump.zzn.com), February 22, 2001.

Am I a moron or is this simple? Is Trevor trying to turn himself into god, the merging of wills is just him and the demiurge? He shaves and tries to be more perfect so he will make a more suitable home for his symbiote(sp?).

-- (nadar@BigPoppaPump.zzn.com), February 24, 2001.

Nadar this makes so much sense. So if he merged wills, and became god, (like all leaders see themselves it seems) then are we to suppose his type of outlook on relationships would be one must basically 'follow him'? (And how does this differ from any other guy out there...) Also, it doesn't seem likely that Aeon would, what is the attraction? Is it because he deems her to be a worthy follower? Would like her to be a follower? Does he see a submissive side in her that is untouched, an admiration of him that suggests its possible?

-- Barb e. (Suesuesbeo@aol.com), February 25, 2001.

Gee its hard to be guy, and answer your posts, are you a neo-feminist or something? Trying to start a gender war are we? Well don't worry about it. I watch people and a large like say almost half of all relationships appear that the male is well Pussy whipped. I hope to find a woman who is as passive as me someday. Now to misdirect or coversation slightly. Perhaps Aeon is his only worthy follower. All others are not worth his contempt which is why(maybe) he leads them as a large group as opposed to with Aeon who he takes the hands on approach. I just watched "A Last Time for Everything" yesterday, and once he has Aeon honest emotions he does control them. He really did love her but can't express emotions on a equal basis with anyone. Thats just my take.

-- (nadar@BigPoppaPump.zzn.com), February 25, 2001.

Nadar, I loved ur response, Trevor becoming more pure so that he can be closer to becoming some kind of god, in his mind. And about Aeon being Trevor's only worthy follower, then him taking the hands on approach. *bravo* i feel somewhat satisfied about my questions to this ep. :O)

-- Lady Morgan (AeonFluxFan1@Aol.com), February 25, 2001.

Ahh external gratification, the original drug.

-- (nadar@BigPoppaPump.zzn.com), February 25, 2001.

No, Trevor was/is a socialist at heart and saw the Demiurge as a benefit for everyone, not just him

-- William (stateofflux@yahoo.com), February 26, 2001.

Of course he would bring the people the Demiurge, but as all things the Breens have, it would have been through him. Hoping to remove the barrier between church and state I'd say.

You know it occurs to me that he wants to bring the people a great event, but the Demiurge is already on earth. Trevor perhaps wants to merge with the Urge and then give it ambition. It seems to be fairly passive. Any thoughs?

By the by, is Brengna a socalist state? If it is(lovely phrase) wouldn't that make Trevor a communist as he believes in the need for strong central gov't?

-- (nadar@BigPoppaPump.zzn.com), February 26, 2001.

From his opening monologue, I get the impression that Trevor's just trying to find inner peace. He isn't worried so much about his people ("I endow the lives of my people with meaning"), or even Aeon at first, until they/she cross his path.

-- Paul (nadisrec@worldnet.att.net), February 26, 2001.

I have to agree with William, Trevor was thinking of his people. Yet his belief in himself is somewhat delusional, 'I will be the representation of god on earth'. Example; King Henry VIII making himself the head of the Church of England, I'm sure he felt the Catholic church was incorrect regarding his ability to represent gods ideas on earth accurately, ( the church back then claimed to see the king in this role) and so felt justified by his own actions of starting his own church. With Trevor attempting to merge with god Aeon stepped in and stopped it all. Perhaps she feared religion for her own personal guilt but she also had the foresight to see a mad dictator in the making...by the way, somebody give Frosty an aspirin.

-- Barb e. (Suesuesbeo@aol.com), February 26, 2001.

Hey, was just reading Peter's comments about the last scene in the Demiurge, and he mentioned that there was a discussion between Aeon and Trevor that developed into a philosophical debate but was cut from the scene. Anyone care to guess the positions they took?

-- Barb e. (Suesuesbeo@aol.com), February 26, 2001.

It might have something to do with the what is pain, question. It might also have something to do with the demiurge, so I'll just mix these two up nice, and add some spice. Perhaps it had to do with how the demiurge(religion) eases pain. While Trevor would say its good that people feel less pain, and gives relief. Aeon would counter that the relief they feel is an illusion or forced on them without their permission, and is therefore invalid. There must be a better word than invalid, but hey enough of my yakkin' everyone please answer Barbara E.'s question.

-- (nadar@BigPoppaPump.zzn.com), February 26, 2001.

Trevor sees himself as having a vastly superior intellect when compared to the average citizen of Bregna. I think he sees the Demiurge as a benefit for everyone, but of course, he believes it would still benefit him more.
