What do you want to know?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Piper'sPages : One Thread

So, yeah, I'm back. What do you want to know? Ask anything. Where have I been, what have I been doing, what is the capital of South Dakota? Seriously, anything. I'll answer it all.... wait, maybe I shouldn't make that promise. Oh well.

Why we want to know what you've been doing for the past dozen weeks, so please post twelve weeks worth of entries, perhaps 500 words each (plus a suitable number of photographs).

Just kidding... Your most recent entry (hey, two in a row, way to go girl!) makes me wonder if there is some kind of a cultural gap between life here on the edge of the right-hand ocean and life in the safe solid middle of the country, the area held tightly in place by the Bible belt... You indicated some recognition of it yourself... I mean the tight parental controls on your friends (of both genders)... I am assuming that they, like you, are in the 19 - 21 age range... and I find it amazing that they have parents telling them that they can't stay overnight at a friend's house... And I am speaking as the parent of a 15 yr old male and an 18 yr old female both of whom stay over at friends' houses and have friends stay over here...

My daughter just graduated from high school and she and four or five of her girlfriends had been talking for months about driving up to Canada and spending a week or so in Montreal and Quebec... Their plans fell through and they are not making the trip. Now, my wife and I had difficulty in hiding our relief at this, but it never occurred to us to attempt to say that she couldn't make the trip.

This is not year 2000 thing... when I was in high school I would usually have requested parental permission (with the expectation that it would always be granted) but once I was of college age it would more have been a case of politely informing them that I was planning to go away for the weekend or whatever...

First: To know that you are okay. Second: How you are reacting to things in your life. Third: I want to now whatever you want to tell us.

Seriously considering? ;)

Just kidding. None of my business.

Seriously, though, Is he dreamy? Is he witty? Is he hick or is he city? Did your knees shake the moment you locked eyes?

Is he quiet? Is he neat? Help old ladies across the street? Is he 6-foot-8 or just a middlin' size?

And if he's really all of that, and not just a teenage shark, How come he took our girl away, and left us in the dark?

(Just a little doggerel to let you indulge in the post you _want_ to make. You can feel free now.) :)

Feh. My poetry's better than my HTML. Oh well, she knows what I'm talking about.

Probably just as well. :)
