What are you doing on the 4th of July?

How do you plan to celebrate Independence DAy this year?

Our town always has a huge parade, including silly drill teams (which are big with the crowds) and marching bands, and floats with a yearly theme. Everyone works on it all year long. Then we all go to the bay to swim and sunbathe or waterski, jetski and sail. Around 2 pm there is a giant townwide BBQ..! It night, fireworks over the bay, viewed by thousands of boats and crowded beach alike. You can also see all the firework shows at all the boardwalks along the beachfront from here. One of my favorite days of the summer, as long as it doesn't rain, which it frequently does here on holidays.

Well, some of us (to whom courageous Benedict Arnold was a shining hero) are staying inside in the air conditioning, keeping as far away as possible from the extruded horses' lips and pigs' eyebrows known as "hot dogs," and probably relaxing and reading our butts off. What a country! [Very Big Grin]

Wow, that's a depressing thought. How many rights, how much freedom have we lost since we won our Independence. How much more are we willing to see lost? Will the people of America always guard their constitution?

Does that mean this has officially become the non-US thread?

6, when does Australia celebrate it's nationhood?

Canada has Canada Day (used to be Dominion Day) on July 1st. So Saturday night, we'll try to find some fireworks to watch, maybe even have a picnic if the mosquitos aren't too bad.

Here's hoping all my 'Merican friends enjoy their 4th!
