Sakar Lens

I'm in the process of getting a Pentax ZXM and with it I have been offered a Sakar lens. I have never heard of this brand and I'm just getting back into photography. Any feedback negative or positve would be appreciated. Thanks

Randy -- One of the main reasons for buying or continuing to use Pentax SLRs is the total compatibility of Pentax lenses. Personally, I use Pentax A or M lenses (available on the used market) with my ME Super. I am considering the ZXM as an additional body, even though some of the exposure modes don't work on the older lenses. If you are getting back into photography in a non-automated, non-computerized mode, then these limitations should not be a problem. I'd stick with the Pentax manual lenses. The ZXM is also sold with a Pentax manual 50mm f2 lens. It is also sold with the Pentax manual 35-80mm zoom. I'm planning to buy that zoom, because it's small, light, and manual. If you go that route, make sure it's a Pentax, and not a "lens f/Pentax" (lens for pentax). Have a good time, whatever you end up getting.
