Personally, I'm grateful that OTFR set up this forum and has basically left it alone. What exactly IS a fake handle? another@anon.anon is a REAL handle? Are you discussing imposters using handles of others? I think those are fairly obvious to anyone who has followed the posts of those who use one consistent handle. Obvious as well are the folks who change handles regularly.

Don't you just love the Paranoids ?? The real bottom line to deflate their souped up egos is, who the HELL cares who they are as "anonymous posters" on the net? (I only care when they cross the line with the irrational arguments, bs and in some cases out and out LIES like "hawk's" gas prices have doubled in the last year nicely leaving out they were at a 20 year low. Vs. 1995 or 1980 prices, todays gas prices are not even ahead of REAL DOLLARS. Milk cost more.) There are long time posters to TB I and SleeZy. who post here with a different Screen Name over and over. They are so obvious. Consider this one:

What is your motive, anon?

When you are perfect, and when "censorship" is absent from your life, then maybe you might want to come back. Have you ever withheld information from a significant other? That is censorship. Have you ever bent the truth just a little bit? That is censorship. Sure, it is a different definition, but the point is, even if OTFR made some less than perfect decisions in moderating, there are over 35,000 posts here.

If censorship is not your bone of contention, then what is? If people here are being harrased by trolls, they, I believe, have a right to know if someone is using another's handle in an uncivil way. We may be a bunch of cyber personalities, but we are real people too, with real feelings, and the cowards who usurp a handle should be exposed if someone asks.

Has anyone here been the subject of harassment from anyone on this board in their "real" life-this board meaning TB2K uncensored?

If not, go bark up another tree.

The question, Future Shock, is elementary.

Are some people being treated differently from others. If so, does this difference in treatment constitute censorship, or some other lapse in judgement on the part of the forum moderation.

I submit the following evidence of just such leanings for consideration:

For the record, I made two such requests by email to have this imposter's post altered in the same manner as Liane's post. So I ask you: Is it possible for a memetic doomer, who cannot even figure out something as simple as the Y2k hoax and stupid enough to follow Ed Yourdon's meme, to behave in a remotely fair fashion? I'd say the evidence of this inability is as plain as the evidence that there was never a need to prepare.

Now I am starting to see how sinister your intent is. Because OTFR was a doomer, he/she is fair game to? Andy, why don't you try to moderate a board that now has over 35,000 posts. Since the board started that works out to about 330 posts a day. Do you think yourself or anyone you know could review that many posts a day and never, ever make a mistake, or have a lapse in judgement?

Now I am starting to wonder if you yourself have ever been dead wrong about something and had it thrown in your face repeatedly. Did daddy beat you up emotionally? Mommy? You are becoming a nuisance, and your witch hunt for OTFR is pathetic. We have all gone over this before; threads were dedicated to it already. People's views have been heard. Other Fora have been started over it. Most folks, however, are still here, including you.

I am on record as stating that I have not agreed with all of the administrators decisions, but I am allowing the administrator to be human. Andy, when you can review 330 posts a day and make perfect judgements about all of them, then you can shout from the top of the mountain about how perfectly right you are and how the rest of the world owes you an apology.

I suspect that the real person from whom you want an apology is an ex- lover or intimate family member and you are projecting that onto this board.

Which would have been easier: to modify the email address of my imposter, or insert a quick message explaining I had emailed OTFR telling them it wasn't me? The truth is I don't know, but the fact that the treatment was different speaks volumes.

Your defense of the imbalance speaks as well, don't you think?

I am not acting spurned, for I have no reason to act in such a way. I am merely assisting doomers in what they claimed throughout the debate they would be happy to do - acknowledge their failure. I am reposting their failures for all to see - why all the angst? Why all the childish impersonations? I'm just trying to help, aftre all...

If anyone is acting spurned, it's OTFR, and yourself. Your little meme didn't work out the way you'd hoped and dreamed it would. People aren't barbequeing we pollies and engaging in cannibalistic celebrations of our demise, so you are unhappy. And you demonstrate it each and every time you defend the bias and unfairness posted on this board.

It's wrong to abuse power in this manner by sharing information obtained in this way. You are either for it, or not. I will personally not fall for your diversionary tactics. And, not having access to the information OTFR has been spreading all over the internet about me and others, how do I now that you are not she? I don't, do I. But she does. Do you think she will email me your IP?

This crosses ethical lines by several klicks, and perhaps enough legal lines to have this entire charade of logic finally and forever shut down.

If OTFR is really treating you differently as a consistant course of action, then it strikes me as odd that each and every one of your complaints about this supposedly unfair treatment (and there have been many) have been left intact and unmolested.

Have you noticed that this incident you complain of is fading farther and farther into the past, and there have been no newer incidents for you to cite? Just this one.

Pay attention. There is no pattern of activity to treat you differently. Just this one lone incident that you keep flogging.

I have been paying attention. Every time you post this complaint, you continue to state that you emailed OTFR twice. In other words, you feel justified to complain to the end of time to the whole world, but you stopped a long time ago from complaining to the one person who could actually change the situation.

It looks ...wait, it's coming into focus now... it's almost as if you didn't really want OTFR to fix this, but... [gasp]... you actually prefer to complain about it.

Actually the sorry truth is it wouldn't make a difference if OTFR DID "fix it". If she did, AR would start complaining that it took MONTHS to fix -- clear evidence of bias, and a complaint that he could continue with forever.

Personally, I am of the opinion that AR is going to keep posting this stuff *regardless* of whatever events transpire. I've also given up reading most of his posts, but other people's comments are, as always, interesting.
