PRAGUE (June 16) XINHUA - A Czech Air Force pilot was killed Friday morning when his Su-22 fighter aircraft crashed near Namest nad Oslavou, south Moravia, the Czech News Agency reported.
The jet crashed during its landing after returning along with other fighter planes from a NATO exercise in Memmingen, Germany, according to employees at the Namest military air field.
The pilot ejected shortly before the accident but did not survive, it reported.
The cause of the accident is still unknown. It was the second military jet to crash in recent months. Last October, a French air fighter Mirage 2000 crashed while landing at the airfield in Caslav, Central Bohemia.
