Championships vs. Point Freezing

greenspun.com : LUSENET : New England Motocross Racing : One Thread

I'd like to get some feedback from racers concerning points freezing. The decision was made to not allow freezing(Why I don't know) Because of this rule I see continuous sandbagging. For example, in the 30+ B Champ. the top guys (yeah I'm one of them) are all 1 or two points from pointing out. So, the guys who want to keep moving forward towards expert(white plates, not Advanced Vet.)race hard and loose any chance of winning the championship. This stinks since we were there every weekend early in the season (i.e. rain&snow)and the guys who stayed home warm in bed will endup taking the championship.--OR--I could do what some are doing...no names...and try hard in the qualifier and then mysteriously fall back to 4th(no promo points)every race till the end. This is the kind of racing and champions created by the "No points Freezing" rule. Comments??? #125

Mike,

I could not agree more. The whole point of not allowing the freeze must have been to avoid having over talented people hog the moto wins in a class, and that part makes sence. However, moving someone up a class half way through a championship is ridiculous! I think the rule should be modified so that points may be frozen during the current series in progress. If your running for the championship in the spring series and happen to make expert along the way...You'll have the whole summer series to get smoked in the expert class ;-) That dosen't sound too unfair!

I agree 100% Mike.. And I know exactly who you are talking about.. Pretty ridiculous.. I missed the first 6 races this year with a broken foot so this isn't a probalem for me, however, it is in the sense that I have to race that guy now that I'm back.. Who knows, maybe the NESC will finally listen to the riders.. Probably NOT!!!
