Ode to a Bagel

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Hedgehog Talk : One Thread

In today's entry, I wrote a silly little poem about how I didn't get to eat a bagel last night. Have you written any poems lately?

I haven't written a silly one lately. Perhaps I should. But when I was in junior high I composed the following limerick. (For you younger readers, "the jerk" is a dance we use to do way, way, WAY back then.)

There was a man who drank some beer, He did a dance that was quite queer. While doing the jerk He went berserk And landed on his rear.

I turned this in for an English assignment, and can you believe it(?) the teacher softly scolded me for its raciness. Ah, the innocent days... and those took place in the sixties!

I write haiku as an answer to stressful situations. Here's today's, prompted by a request from Fearless Leader. Put a link right here.
It is already there, dumb ass.
Next time, check the web.

Kymm, whose own writings are great,
Wants the poems I've written of late.
This may be a mess,
But I have to confess:
This is pretty much it. Do I rate?

I just have to fix my haiku. Wrong syllable count in the second line. Bad English major. Bad, bad. Put a link right here.
It's already there, dumb ass.
Next time, check the web. There. Now I can sleep at night.

I am fond of singing odes and ballads. This is my Tuesday Dinnertime Ballad:

Ode to my Broiler

O broiler, you are swift.
You make meat brown and tasty.
You are small, white and lovely
Like a marshmallow, only more useful.
O broiler, you let me win arguments
When Anthony says dumb things
Like "how are we supposed
to cook chicken breasts?"
And "we don't have a broiler,
what are you talking about?"
O broiler, what joy you bring
To my little life.
Don't tell the microwave
But I like you best.

I did a little "Ode to a Strawberry Toaster Strudel".

I still find it funny!

I was so worried about the target="_top" that I forgot to close my tag! Urg. Ignore me!
