Songs for the characters of ER : LUSENET : ER Discussions : One Thread

I was listening to some music and I thought of some songs that would be perfect on "ER". "IF Only" by Hanson. This song would fit perfectly for Carter because if only he had listened to Lucy none of this would have happened. "This Time Around" by Hanson. After Carter's treatment he vows not to be scared and won't go down again like he has lately. "Oops I Did It Again" by Bittney Spears for Abby. Since she seems to lose patients. Can you think of another one? I thought this would be fun to do since it's to hot to do anything today.

I just thought of another one. "Show Me The Meaning Of Being Lonely" by the Backstreet Boys". This one would be for Carter, Carol (before she left), and Luka (after Carol left). They all feel or felt lonely because they were missing someone. Carter misses Lucy, Carol missed Doug, and Luka misses his family and now Carol.

How about "Bye, Bye, Bye" by N'Sync for Luka. Ya know, "bye, bye, bye Carol.

all of these songs seem to be typical "teeny bopper" songs, if i'm not mistaken. i've never even heard of the two hanson songs. this isn't meant to be mean, i'm just making an observation.

It can be any song you want to be. Those were just a few that I thought of.

I think that the new Matchbox20 song "Bent" could apply to some of the characters. The chorus goes "Can you help me I'm bent, I'm so scared that I'll never, get put back together.....". That could apply to Carter now, especially in the bathroom stall scene where he broke down. He looked so helpless. Luka, now that Carol is gone. And Carol, throughout the whole season was just a wreck, so it could apply to her too.

In the UK, for the promo for All in the Family and Ve Still My Heart Double Bill they used 'Goodbye' by the Spice Girls- I never liked the group but the clips gave new meanings to the song--it was a really well edited trailer, the lyrics really fitted.

"Goodbye my friend, I know you not, but I can still feel you here, It's not the end, Gotta keep trying till the pain turns into fear..."

I know its slushy but it really fitted, what with dramatic bits of the surgery and Peter shouting at Anspaugh that they don't have enough time mixed with the climaxes of the song.

Wow, I bet you are a girl from the age 12-20 from a suburb of a big city...

Okay, I know my following suggestion is really weird, but whenever an unfavorable couple (such as Peter and Cleo) gets together, how about Weird Al's parody of "You Can't Touch This" entitled "I can't Watch This." And for all those elderly couples that come in with one or both being terminally ill and trying to commit suicide, how about "Crash and Burn" by Savage Garden?

Anna, I thought that song was really fitting for the trailers! I'd only just seen th eppy coz a mate had taped it for me and when i saw the railer for channel four - i nearly burst into tears! It was such a good choice for that particular episode!

Hey, the Hammer- what are you on about--yes I do fit that stereotype though.

I thought the C4 trailer was good- glad someone agrees.

I also think 'Even Angels Fall' fromt the '10 Things' soundtrack by Jessica Riddle would suit Carter's predicament.

I simply could tell by those choices what kind of person cammie is. Those songs are popular to people about that age bracket and of a certain socio-economic status. I personally dislike B. Spears and Hanson. It is like I was transported to the mid-late 80's when the NKOTB where popular. It's all the same repeat stuff to me (not from every artist, just the Nsynch's and Aguillera's of the world). Not that I am old (unless you count 24 as old). Just kinda jaded (as I should be being a cynical member of gen x). Not to bad mouth anyone. Just observing.

Does anyone know the song "Goodbye My Friend"?...I'm not sure if that's the title, but it's on some other shows a lot, like it was on The Wonder Years. I think it would be nice for Lucy, from Carter. After watching some season 5 shows, I think he must miss her. Also, The Pretenders song "I'll Stand By You" would be nice for Carter. And I hope one day he finds his significant other for his own "Taking You Home" scene...I love that song; I hope we hear something like it at a Carter wedding (with Doug and Carol in attendance of course). I love song lyrics, so maybe I'll think of some more.

"My Own Worst Enemy" by Lit for Carter. He was tortured by guilty thoughts, and he felt like he was obssessing, getting in the way of his happiness. Guilt is a bad feeling! Ouch! He probably felt so unhappy with himself he starting using drugs...bummer...

-- Katie (, June 15, 2000.

Whoever it was that mentioned Savage Garden, I love that song!

Also, I think that song Stand by Me from the film Stand by Me (funny that...) would be good for Carter cos he needs the rest of the ER staff to stand by him and support him. Was this the song someone meant?

Just thought of another one...Everybody Hurts by REM, for Carter (again!). It would go well with all the hurt + pain he's experiencing.

I probably sound like an old geezette, but "The Man in Black", by Johnny Cash, would go pretty well for Luka. Also, "Iris", by the Goo Goo Dolls, & "It Only Hurts Me When I Cry" by Dwight Yoakam. Three songs that would fit the lonely Luka. However, I can imagine him enjoying Queen's "Crazy Little Thing Called Love", when he's finally in a happy, stable relationship (and please, TPTB, let it be Kerry!).

"Here's a Quarter, Call Someone Who Cares", by Travis Tritt, for Doug & Carol. Or "Get Over It" by The Eagles. Heh.

And "They're Coming to Take Me Away", for Paul Sobriki.
