Possible OK training/social weekend?

What do you think about OK hosting a training/social weekend at Roaring River State Park?

I ate lunch with Dan today and he suggested renting a cabin at the park and having some sort of training weekend. The park is in southwest Missouri (just west of Table Rock Lake). Dan showed me the park trail map (with what looked like USGS contours). The area looks heavily wooded and the hills are big. The park doesn't have a real orienteering map. But, it would be a good area for some running/hiking raining. I think you can get a lot out of a training weekend even if the map is a bit rough (I remember a good weekend of training on a rough O' map at Rock Springs in central Kansas).

Dan -- who was working on an audit at the park last week -- reports that you wouldn't want to run in the woods during the summer (or even the trails for that matter). But, once the leaves are down it would probably be good.

Maybe OK could set something up in the late fall? What do you think?

The voices say I need more time in the woods. I must obey the voices...

This voice says let's gather in Dan's woods. I got a nasty spider bite and have not had any desire to go on trails for awhile (chigger, ticks, poison ivy. . . it's just unpleasant; guess I'm no longer OK "tough" enough for summer O'. I hope the date selected for the camp won't conflict with work stuff. Do we bring our bikes, too?

Maybe it's time for another ski O. . . sign of good snow fall, maybe a course at Shawnee Mission Park or Clinton State Park. I'll post a ski O alert in Dec.

Snow??!

Gene, have you not seen the forecasts that due to global warming the alpine meadows will disappear, snow in the appalacian mountains will be rare and coastal cities will lose ground to the sea?

And you see snow??

What voices are you listening to?
