The following is a better sampling. This joker had the never to post to such places as CPSR-Y2k (aka: Computer Professionals for Social Responsibility-y2k) which had many real Academics and IT people on the list. He later admitted he was only "guessing". RIGHT ON.

United States of America - Near Future

Political and corporate crimes exposed will make the last few years and the next, the Era of Corruption in the history lessons taught to future generations. Long duration hardships brought on by Y2K disruptions and the subsequent betrayal of trust by the people by corporate America and the political leadership that had lied about the true situation in the preceding years, will bring on a great change in public attitude. 'Business as usual' will be business as usual abet slow. The IRS will not be able to remediate their computers. As a result, the government will implement a flat tax of 30%.

People will lose fortunes on the crashed stock markets and bank runs. Unemployment will soar to 30%.The public will be demanding answers. Answers they won't recieve from the 'official' sources they used to rely upon, mainly BIG media, corporate Head Offices or the winners of seats in the Congress or Senate. Riots will happen in various large cities in the southern States at various times but the northern riots won't start until the weather warms up. Everything will be swept under the carpet. It has to be to maintain an apparency of 'normal'.

The elections will be delayed by two months while America works out it's Y2K problems. George Bush will be the next President of the United States of America. Pat Buchanan will run a close second. Alan Keyes will be named Vice President. Corporate America will rejoice (at least those still employed). Independents or Reform candidates will hold a third party status holding almost 1/3 the seats in both the Congress and the Senate. Republicans will hold a slight majority in both Houses.

The public will want to know how Y2K could have happened and why wasn't something done about it earlier. There will be a lot of blame, shame and regrets going around, and generally, people in authority trying to cover their assets and so the public will turn ever more anarchist. The standard mantra will be, "Well, we had our problems but just look how bad it is elsewhere!" Many Directors of businesses will be voted out and sued by their shareholders.

The USA will become overly protectionist in it's trade practices and slightly isolationist in that it maintains strong membership in a power alliance which includes mostly Commonwealth countries and democracies only. Territorial wars in the Middle East, Asia and the Balkans will not get financial or military support from the USA. We will supply weapons at a cost, of course. Probably secretly finance our favourite war horses as well but the public won't know for many years to come.

A modern day witch-hunt via the internet will begin. Except this one will expose crime and corruption under every leaf yet the mainstream media will ignore the findings as usual. A great number of people will read documents on the internet about crimes against humanity like where AIDS came from and who financed it. The purposeful spread of man-made diseases like cancer through food products and immunization shots. Who and how international corporations have been financing genocide to thwart population growth.

Once President Clinton has been stripped of power, a great number of books will be released written by people very close to the events. The facts revealed will start phony investigations by the Congress and Senate. The public will be swamped with long, boring testimony in legalize and a great unrest will swipe the land. The investigations will get so complex, they'll go way past this 'Near Future' time frame. Bush will grant an amnesty to Clinton but many of his henchmen will go to jail. A pro-Clinton murder squad implementing 8 men will be exposed but only 5 are prosecuted. As many as fourteen people, who are deemed to be involved, will die under mysterious circumstances thoughout the investigations.

Y2K -Near Future

World bodies like the UN, World Bank, G7, IMF, NATO and the others will implement an international campaign on December.1. 1999, to try to persuade countries to shut down their Y2K non-compliant, untested or unverified nuclear generating plants and chemical factories. Nuclear weapons early warning systems will be standed-down from high alert and the USA and Russia will have key personnel in each others Command Centers to monitor for computer glitches which could display false missle launches.Most countries will try to comply but no one is certain that the recommendations are followed. Russia responds with an assurance that everything is Y2K OK and continues to operate their generating stations.

Banks runs start in Asia and Europe on December.7.1999. The news quickly spreads and the runs start in earnest everywhere. The airwaves quickly fill up with government and banking officials trying to assure the people that they are Y2K OK and that there is nothing to be concerned about, their money is safe and it may be stolen if large sums are brought home. This only makes the situation worst. The officials aren't believed. Rumours spread like wild-fire. Many people in North America won't show up for work December.13.1999 but rather stand in lines outside their banks waiting for the doors to open. Riots break out where ever and whenever the bank runs out of cash. It happens in every town and city in every country like dominos, one after the other. The governments quickly restrict cash withdrawals or impose limits. The next day, in each affected country, un-announced bank holidays are enforced. The public have decided they want their money. Behind the scenes, the government will come down hard on the media and order them to not report any happenings.

Stores are rushed in mid-December by last minute shoppers all over the world trying to stock up in supplies in case of supply chain disruptions. Many incidents of violence in many places. Robberies of citizens and stores sky-rocket. Fear and panic is in the air. Although the cash will flow into the tills with all the rush buying, the cash will not be deposited by the small store owners into the banks. The small business owners will not trust the banker's assurances either. Some governments will order the small businesses to deposit their funds or make it illegal to hoard large sums. The orders will be ignored.

Stock markets plummet in huge sell-offs December.10.1999. People want out before they get caught holding worthless paper. Brokers and government officials again hit the airwaves trying to convince everyone that the market is safe. The public don't believe them.

This prediction comes from one inescapable fact. A rock solid truth. THE PUBLIC DO NOT EXPECT THE TRUTH FROM THEIR GOVERNMENT OR BANKERS. IN FACT, THEY EXPECT TO BE LIED TO. Every government on this earth has lied to their public in recent memory. What makes you think they will be believed when it comes to something as important as their money and food for their family? The politicians and bankers will not be believed even if they had renovated, tested and re-tested their computer systems for Y2K compliance.

Although, New Years is a time for celebration, most people opt to stay at home or together with immediate family. The world rolls into the new year with great unease.
