Semi-nude Habits

So, don't let me be the only one sharing Too Much Information? What do you in the nude or semi-nude? (Besides the obvious... of course... but if you want to talk about that, feel free...)

Ahh yes, answering the door. I don't know how many times I've had to make a delivery person wait while I scrambled for a bathrobe or some clothes or something.

I work from home a lot too, and it's very easy not to bother to get properly dressed.

-- Medley (medley@uncorked.org), June 05, 2000.

Working around the house, no power tools of course too risky Cleaning Swimming of course, its so nice to have a private pool :)

-- Tim (hermant@olin.wustl.edu), June 05, 2000.

I always said the first thing I did when I owned a house would be laundry in the nude. I mean, you do laundry when your clothes are dirty, right, so what's to wear? I already had the revelation about not having to hoard quarters, and this weekend I brought a load downstairs, threw it in the machine, added my dress and underwear, and bounded upstairs in the raw. So liberating.

Otherwise, anything. The best beach day I ever had was Baker Beach in SF, which I didn't know existed at all until I came around a cliffy corner from Golden Gate State Park and saw a bunch of naked people. I didn't have a towel or sunscreen for my arse and all I know about SF water is that both currents and sharks abound but that didn't stop me from stripping (out of the dress I had seen fit to climb down the cliffs in, since I had dressed for the City) and diving in. A nice naked old man lent me a towel, though.

I go through my daily life in clothes but only because to do otherwise is illegal and people look at you funny (even if you're not physically abnormal). I refuse to be clad in my own house, and I'm plotting what I can plant along my fences so that in at least part of my backyard I can be legally and safely knekkid as well.

Bathing suits are carcinogenic, everybody knows *that.* The only reason to wear one is for actual lap-swimming, when breasts and other bits need to be strapped down. In hot-tubs, paddling at the beach, splashing around in a lake, they're totally unnecessary.

I should move to Iceland.

I've discovered that my house has too many windows. While it seemed to be a great feature when the house was bright even though it was gloomy outside, it doesn't lend it self to roaming the house nude. I do it anyway. If it's very hot, I'll work in the nude. My home-office only has one window and it has curtains on it - well now it does. Now that I work at home, I'm rarely properly "dressed". This only causes a problem when I have to answer the door.

-- Toni (toni@petoni.org), June 05, 2000.

One thing I hate about having roommates is that I can't roam around the house in the nude anymore. When I lived by myself I had to get curtains for all the windows. On my days off half the day would go by before I decided to get dressed. Don't ever cook in the nude though; I did that once, not even thinking, and ended up with a nasty splatter burn in a bad place. Ack! Of course, when I lived with my (ex) boyfriend, I got sick of the whole nude thing because his favorite thing was to step out of the shower, skip the towel, and go walking around the apartment dripping water everywhere. It was cute for a while but it got old!

Many years ago, a friend of mine was one of the first tenants at Lake Point Towers, near Chicago's Navy Pier, sticking out on a point in Chicago's lake front. High above the city, facing east over the lake, she had no blinds and felt comfortable performing her morning chores in a similar fashion... Until one morning, she looked up and found a helicopter pilot waiving at her.

Pretty much all of my morning routine happens while I wander aimlessly around my bedroom waiting to hear the weather on the radio. So, you've got all the usual stuff - morning e-mail check, drinking coffee, making my bed, etc.

Cleaning in general, and the bathroom in particular. It's soooooo much easier to clean the shower walls by just getting in there. Having apartmentmates (particularly guy ones) does put a damper on such things. Running shorts and sports bras are about as close as I get for cleaning nowadays.

You'd think bathing pets would also be better without clothes (again, the getting wet bit) but pets have claws.... Claws bad....

-- Amanda (amh@io.com), June 05, 2000.

Ah, nakedidity. I roam around with my toothbrush, too, often with a book in the other hand. I clean the shower in the nude, but if I have to scrub the tub itself I need at least a towel between me and the tub itself (cold!!!). I used to spend most of my time nude or semi, actually, but some of the last few places I've lived in have not been conducive to naked-ness. One was a studio on the first floor with floor to ceiling windows. The next one was okay for nude antics, but the one we just vacated was COLD and DRAFTY and I just couldn't stand being totally nekkid for long.

Now we are in a third floor apartment which is mostly private. I feel the relaxation beginning.

-- Jennifer (jfinch@mediaone.net), June 06, 2000.

Yes, I've weblogged in the nude. Writing and reading. Just had to say it.

-- Lilly (ltao@netcom.com), June 06, 2000.

Count me in as another person who gets ready to go in the morning in some state of undress. Time and laundry costs have taught me that I *will* spill coffee on myself, given half the chance.

-- Jess (jess@pocketgeek.com), June 06, 2000.

Clothes? What? Oh, yes, the stuff you put on to deal with the world. ;-) I am not exactly a nudist by philosophy, just lazy and comfort-seeking. And for the last few years I've had an apartment that rain or shine, snow or summer, is warmer than the ideal by several degrees. So I end up naked, or at least wandering around in underwear, quite a bit. It's also fortunate that it's a corner apartment facing the roof of a windowless factory and only distantly visible from the train tracks across the way. If I had my druthers, though, I think I'd like something more airy and open, even if I did end up wearing clothes a lot more.

This is also the reason I don't have a webcam ...

What do I do in the nude? I work. I'm a figure model for various artists. Now, whenever I see an easel or a camera, I have a sudden (but resistable) urge to strip off and pose.

I'm also in the "most anything in the nude" camp. We are fortunate enough to not be able to see our nearest neighbors from the house. Last night the weather was pleasantly cool, so after my bath I did all the evening chores in the nude: washing dishes, grinding flour, cleaning catboxes, feeding cats. Even let the dogs out and enjoyed a bit of air and sunset.

I'm hoping to raise our children with a similarly casual attitude towards clothes, though of course such things tend to offend the busybodies at Child "Protective" Services.

Besides most already mentioned, hiking and whitewater paddling where the venue is remote enough, dancing where appropriate. If I had my 'd'ruthers pretty much anything that doesn't need clothing for protective purposes, ie: no bacon frying.

-- Dan Lyke (danlyke@flutterby.com), June 07, 2000.

while i haven't actually gotten the paper nude, i do usually get the paper every morning in my boyfriend's bathrobe, often naked underneath. this would probably be a little less weird if it were delivered. however, i live on a pedestrian mall, where for bizarre reasons, the newspaper isn't delivered 'til 9:30 AM, despite a newspaper box down the street which has the paper starting at 7 or so.

so every morning, i get up, throw on daniel's bathrobe, and get the paper, usually barefoot in the summer. i didn't realize anyone actually noticed me (i'm pre-coffee at that point), until i met a neighbor who wasn't sure why she recognized me. *sigh*

My mamms are too big, I can't handle them, its too heavy. That's why I always walk nude arround. Rolling nude in the snow is The BEST!!!!!

-- Ana Turesa (anaturesa@turesa.com), November 15, 2000.

Count me in with the others! All started when I was doing laundry and realized my dress was dirty. Tossed it in and didnt see the harm in adding undies and my bra. That was probably the first time I spent time outside my bedroom or bathroom sans clothes. Always swim nude when I can since growing up - what is the point of a bathing suit?

I sleep naked, so after the alarm goes off and until I absolutely HAVE to get dressed, my roomates are now used to my birthday suit. I dont go out of my way to get undressed, but if I'm cleaning the bathroom or back from the gym, I'm not getting my clothes smelly!

Last year, my boyfriend and I ran in Ann Arbor's "Naked Mile" since it was my senior year (tradition). Absolutely a fantastic experience. Imagine a ton of college kids running around naked and... well.. that's it! I want to do it again!

I often walk round in the house in the nude, mostly after I get up after sleeping, in the nude of course. I have often done nude excursions outdoors but only at night. I once rode around my suburb on my bicycle in poring rain completly nude and on numerous occasions I walked round the block. Once I was looking after a friends house and walked round his suburb in 2 foot snow with a pair of boots on. I later did it completly nude. I did this for three nights in a row, Spending a total of 8 and a half hours walking round in the snow. I even rolled round in the snow a few times. It was really fun and I found it somewhat erotic. I don't know if I was seen but I bet that if somebody did see me they must have wondered if they had actually seen me or not.

-- Wayne (wazat@mjvn.co.za), April 20, 2001.

I always like to go nude round the house when possible. Its a lot easier than worrying about what to wear in the morning.

-- Richard Natress (ric_nature@yahoo.com), May 04, 2001.

I sleep in the nude and in the morning, before going to work, spend the whole hour making breakfast, watching T.v. and all my morning routines, in the nude. On days off I will even spend major portions of the morning without anything on. It's just simply relaxing.

-- Barry Ratzliff (tsarnik@hotmail.com), June 21, 2001.

I love being nude at home and at work (home office). Often, I don't like to wear at all, especially after "morning wood" when I love to walk around and get the early AM sun to breathe all over me.....very tingly and very sensuous

-- Robert Svenson (perryn@hotmail.com), June 22, 2001.

I loved to be naked at home as well as in my garden. I knew my neighbor had already seen me naked. I have a stealthy habit of being naked, and let others taking a big breath by seeing my lovely big breasts. Often I started walking naked on the empty street, and try to wash the car, and being totally visible to the street. Once I was wearing a skimpy panty and no top, just next to my gate. Unexpectedly the neighboring boy and his 2 friends (14yo) came, I couldn’t hide myself, I was holding my dog in one hand and covering my chest with the other, I answered him. Most of the time the dog drag me so I have to use both my hands to hold the dog and leaving mine to be seen. They were cool and I felt funny and loved so much to be with them showing my breasts. My next expedition is to bareback horse riding.

-- Jamie (ciusus@yahoo.com), June 25, 2001.

I don't like wearing clothes, I go about the house nude all the time, except for certain activities (cooking, playing with the dog, answering the door, etc.). My girlfriend seems to like it ;)

-- Tommy Garcia (botzieboy88@hotmail.com), August 20, 2001.

Once I get in the house, I'm pretty much naked. I love working from home, because I don't have to get dressed. I get a chuckle when I work from home and have to call in... me on one end wearing nothing and folks on the other end wearing suits and dresses.

I also love skinny dipping (once you try it, you'll never wear a swimsuit again), hiking and fishing nude, and when I lived in the country, I worked in my garden nude.

It's just a more relaxing way to be.

Compared to the timidity of many who responded here, I guess I truly am a full fleged nudist. Right now, I have the utter pleasure of going to work in the nude, everyday! Well, of course, I telecommute from home, but I conduct meetings in the nude. Yes, when the doorbell rings, I have to scurry to get dressed. It's funny, sometimes, to make sure the delivery man does not think I am home, I'll crack open the door (while I am still getting dressed) and say, just a minute. Do you think he knows what I am doing?

I keep all my curtains closed in my townhouse and I live with another person who is also a nudist (although he has to go to a real job and wear clothes!). But the two of us are usually naked around the house doing most everything (no not cooking bacon!)

I've been nude in public parks where nudity is not allowed - for the thrill, risking arrest of course. But my greatest nude thrill was walking naked in the famous San Francisco Bay to Breakers race in 2000 in front of 80,000 people (their is a small nude group, 100 or so, that participate with the 70,000 clothed runners/walkers for the 7.5 miles through downtown San Francisco and through a major city park). Look up "Bare to Breakers" if you are interested. The police have learned to tolerate us. And yes, I also went to a nudist beach, a nude resort, etc.

If it were up to me, clothes would be optional for most people in most situations. Nudity is much more innocent then the pent up sexual energy of scantily dressed people! I truly think there'd be less sex crimes if nudity was pervasive.

I love to walk outdoors in the nude at night in the summertime. I am fortunate that I live near wide open areas(Denver Suburbs) with bike paths to roam around with just flip-flops to protect my feet. I can walk along time and nobody would see me. It's still public nudity!

I am looking for a roomate to share a 2 bedroom aptartment in North Hollywood, CA. I am putting this posting here because I want to share with someone that wouldn't get freaked out if I walked around nude from time to time. The rent is great - $400.00 and it's near all the major studios! Prefer to share with a female, but male is okay too. E- mail me so we can discuss!!! lampshade59@yahoo.com

-- Jay (lampshade59@yahoo.com), August 29, 2002.

When I was a kid, I always kept all my clothes on, my older sister would always tell me to take my shirt off and get a tan. Once, when I was 13, I visited her at her apartment, and her neighbor was sunning herself nude in the common back yard. (Yup, sis had left me alone in her apartment while she was at work.) I kept staring at her through the louvered windows on the door. She must have noticed because she got up and went inside, but soon she knocked on the back door to use the phone. She sat on the couch in shorts and a top and talked forever with her friend. It was a small apartment, so I went into the bathroom to give her privacy - but I couldn't stop thinking about her, so I came out naked. She was so cool. She just got up, pulled down her shorts and panties and sat down again. Still talking. I walked over to her, and I was shaking, but I already knew about, and wanted to try licking her. I was a little rough at first, but she helped. She was having trouble talking, so she got off the phone and told me I "could fuck her". Man, to this day, I still love and think about her. She made me so happy! And she laughed when I insisted, no - begged her to kiss me while I was inside her. I wanted her to taste herself. I was SO grateful, and ever since then, I am naked a lot more, but I don't hang out in public doing it. I hope someday, I can pass on her favor to some girl.
