Past weekend

greenspun.com : LUSENET : New England Motocross Racing : One Thread

Over the weekend a rider was killed after coliding in to his cousin on their dirtbikes. I am not 100% sure of all the details. Would this have happened if the riding area was organized, legal and a maintained place to ride? Would the chances of this occuring been reduced. Since the article on the guys death made most of the papers, many local authorities will be cracking down on riding areas. So once again I will be looking for a place to ride. Incidents like this one, give all riders and enthusiasts bad press and only make it more difficult to enjoy our sport. When will Fish and Game Concentrate their efforts from trying to keep us from riding, but rather enforce saftey , and not just trail systems, but an organized track that is not 2 hrs away. Hopefully our fight to safe and quality riding areas will be in the near future. Look at what skateboarders went through, for awhile and still today you can not skate in many areas, but they now have skate parks everywhere.

Where did this happen?

Safety is a huge issue for us all. It is also everone's responsibility. Especially @ an unorganized riding area where everyone is going everywhichway. Use your head and respect each other.

This is a very dangerous sport that deserves a tremendeous amount of respect from those that participate in it.

Be careful out there..................
